Describe the problem
Sable combines the behavior of hiding the unread dots with the muting of notifications. This behavior is a bit inconsistent (in my opinion), as the unread dot does not appear when all notifications are muted, but the unread dot does appear for non-mention messages when notifications are set to mention-only. This is in general fine, but I would love an option to also turn off the unread dot if the notifications are set to mention-only.
Describe the solution you'd like
The most straightforward solution would likely be to add another setting in the Notifications > Badges group, that allows disabling the unread dot when notifications are set to mention-only.
Alternatives considered
I would assume people rely on that feature, but (bad) alternatives would be to change default settings:
- Extend the "Favicon Dot: Mentions Only" to also include the room unread dots
- Make it default behavior to not show unread dots when notifications are restricted
- Decouple notification settings from badge settings? (That's what the Notifications > Badges settings is for I guess anyways)
