Delete (unused) names via API

Hello,
I would like to delete names from a file using a script.
As a first step, it would also be helpful to delete all unused names.
Is this function currently available in the API?

Hi @sweckla

You could try following:

• fetch all element names unique (use python's set ) - lets name that set_a
• get all name list items, and do als map them into a set - lets name that set_b

>>> set_a = {"Beam", "Member", "Purlin"}
>>> set_b = {"Beam", "Purlin"}
>>> set_a.difference(set_b)
{'Member'}
