Any other interesting things about your environment that might be related
to the issue you're seeing?
** I would like to request guidance on the recommended procedure for resetting Bash to its default configuration. This could include steps to revert configuration files to their initial state and any additional considerations or best practices.**

Which terminal/shell are you running Git from? e.g Bash/CMD/PowerShell/other
**Since this is a request for guidance rather than a specific technical issue, there weren't any specific commands run to trigger the problem. However, the issue arises when I attempt to reset their Bash configuration to its default state and encounter challenges or lack of clear instructions on how to do so effectively.**
What did you expect to occur after running these commands?
** I expected the Bash configuration to be reset to its default state, with the creation of a new empty .bashrc file.**
What actually happened instead?
**he Bash configuration files were renamed for backup, and a new empty .bashrc file was created as expected. However, I encountered some challenges in finding comprehensive guidance on the recommended procedure for resetting Bash to its default configuration.
reset: unknown terminal type vt525

If the problem was occurring with a specific repository, can you provide the
URL to that repository to help us with testing?
There is no stock user ~/.bashrc to regenerate in Git for Windows 2.42.0.2. I checked that release's PortableGit archive: its packaged Bash startup files are under /etc (including /etc/profile and /etc/bash.bashrc). To undo your own shell customizations reversibly, close Git Bash, rename any ~/.bashrc, ~/.bash_profile, ~/.bash_login, and ~/.profile you created, and reopen it. You do not need to create an empty .bashrc. See the Bash startup file rules.
The reset: unknown terminal type vt525 message is a separate terminal setting problem. I reproduced it with this release: infocmp vt525 fails, while infocmp xterm succeeds. In Git Bash, check printf '%s\n' "$TERM", then look for a TERM=vt525 setting in your Windows environment or startup files. Set TERM to a type supported by the terminal you actually use, and reopen the shell.
