Greetings. I've found an issue with msys-2.0.dll when it gets loaded into an AppContainer process.
The issue happens when MSYS' initialization code tries to create an Object Manager directory object via NtCreateDirectoryObject, in winsup\cygwin\mm\shared.cc . It tries to create the new namespace under the global \BaseNamedObjects namespace, which is not allowed for AppContainer processes. In the AppContainer environment I'm testing, this fails with STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED , preventing MSYS-based programs such as Bash and Vim from starting.
I've prototyped a change that uses GetAppContainerNamedObjectPath to locate the AppContainer's named-object namespace and creates the runtime's objects there. In my testing, this resolves the namespace/access failure and allows Bash and Vim startup.
I'd be happy to create a PR to get this fix in. But I'm not sure which repo I should create the PR for. The three possibilities I see are:
Git for Windows' msys2-runtime
MSYS2's msys2-runtime
Cygwin
I'd appreciate any advice and feedback. Thank you!
