I think that because you are using ul and li for this tree with nav nav-pills in the ul class bootstrap content tabs are not working.
This sure works for the navigation but if I point a href to real tabs content like:
this doesn't work.
Do you have a working example with your tree on the left and the content of each tab on the right?
