Adding custom masthead to VerticalNav breaks built-in stateful behavior

I'll come back to this issue with reproduction steps and such, but I'm just creating it to bookmark it. Details of what's going wrong are in the discussion here: patternfly/patternfly-react-demo-app#36

It appears there may be no actual bug in patternfly-react at all, and the bug may only be in patternfly-react-demo-app. I'm closing this, we can reopen if we find there is really an issue here.
