PHP 8.4 support #1
|
Hi! Would it be possible to enable support for PHP 8.4 in phpcpd? PHP 8.4 is still an actively supported PHP version and will receive security updates until December 31, 2028, according to the official PHP supported versions page. It would be very helpful for projects that have already migrated to PHP 8.4. Thanks! |

Hi @nartzis, Yes! PHP 8.4 is fully supported. With the release of v2.0, phpcpd-next/phpcpd actually requires PHP 8.4+ as its minimum runtime version. You can install or update to v2.0 via Composer: composer require --dev phpcpd-next/phpcpd Highlights in v2.0 PHP 8.4+ Native Support: Fully updated and tested for PHP 8.4, with zero runtime Composer dependencies. Type-3 Duplication Engine: Combined Rabin-Karp and TokenBag engines for detecting exact, renamed, and reordered code duplication out of the box. Orphan Detection (--orphans): Detects unreachable classes, traits, enums, and functions. Configuration Layering: Full support for project-level phpcpd.ini configuration. Feel free to update to v2.0 and let us know if you run into any issues! |

Thank you very much for adding PHP 8.4 support in v2.0! We’ve installed phpcpd-next in our Laravel 12 / PHP 8.4 project, and it works great. The improved detection and output are very useful. Really appreciate your work and response! |
