Retail-Augmentation-style support damage attribution for Ascension WoW (Conquest of Azeroth, 3.3.5 client).
Support specs put an exclusive raid buff (+X attack or spell power, 15s) on their group — Aerodynamics, Flourishing Growth, Battle Screech, Song of Steel, Splash Zone, Heartbreak. The damage meter shows none of that as yours. SupportMeter watches every damage event from players carrying your buff, computes the slice of that damage your buff created, and credits it back to you — live, in Details!.
Drop the SupportMeter folder into Interface\AddOns\. Requires Details! for the meter integration (the tracker itself works standalone). /sm opens the window.
- The addon auto-detects which support buff you provide from your spellbook, and reads the buff's live value off the actual aura (handles caster-scaled buffs).
- A cyclone icon appears in every Details window title bar: click it to toggle that window between Normal and Redistributed (your buff's share moved from each buffed player onto your bar). Per window — run one of each side by side.
- Clicking your bar / the buff row in a redistributed window shows the per-player breakdown of where the credit came from.
For each damage event from a buffed player:
attributed = damage x (c x V) / (base + c x (pool + V))
where V is the buff value, pool is the target's relevant power stat, and c/base are the ability's scaling coefficient and base damage. This is exact: it is the share of the hit that exists because the buff raised their stat. Crits and %-damage multipliers scale both parts, so they cancel.
Model tiers, best first — the addon uses the best information it has per ability:
- Exact coefficient —
SupportMeter_Coefs.lua, a generated database of ~7,400 CoA abilities (spell id -> base damage + SP/AP coefficients) scraped from db.ascension.gg's server-side scaling fields, plus in-game tooltip-diff measurements for abilities with no database page (/sm snap). - Weapon math — auto attacks and "% weapon damage" abilities: AP feeds them as AP/14 per weapon-speed second, so with the target's weapon DPS the slice is exact (speed and the % multiplier cancel).
- Measured/class share — fallback share of the hit assumed power-scaled (0.45 spells / 0.55 physical, tunable).
- Hard zero — abilities verified to have no power scaling. Never guessed.
Key rules:
- Highest-stat rule — the buff feeds the target's higher stat only. Damage from the other pool earns no credit.
- Hybrid coefficients beat the school gate — an ability with an explicit coefficient on the buffed stat earns credit regardless of damage school (e.g. Tinker fire abilities that scale with AP). Only unknown abilities are school-gated.
- Pets — the buff lands on the player; a fraction of the buffed stat flows to their pet. Pet damage is credited through the owner's buff window at
petRatio x Vagainst a ratio-scaled pool (/sm petratio, default 0.5). - Under-estimate policy — every unknown floors to zero or a conservative share. The number on your bar is a floor, not a hope.
Pools (other players' SP/AP) come from, best first: exact stats broadcast by their own SupportMeter (addon comms), gear inspect scans (+ base-stat floor, level-scaled), or class defaults. Proc buffs can be registered to raise pools while active (/sm proc).
export/ ships the database as portable JSON/CSV (coa_coefficients.json / .csv): spell id, name, base damage, sp/ap coefficients, per-tick / weapon-scaled / flat flags, and provenance (db scrape vs in-game measurement). Free to use for log sites and other tools — the sp_coef/ap_coef columns are the ground truth for what scales with what; damage school alone is not a safe filter on Ascension.
