Use permanent redirects for trailing slash normalization - #1195
Conversation
Cloudflare Workers static assets html_handling issues temporary 307 redirects when normalizing slashless URLs to trailing-slash HTML pages. Handle that step in the web worker with 301 before ASSETS.fetch, and set force-trailing-slash in wrangler to match Astro trailingSlash always. Intercept slash-only 307 responses from ASSETS.fetch so _redirects rules on slashless paths still run before normalization. Add tests for self-hosted-capgo. Co-authored-by: Martin DONADIEU <martindonadieu@gmail.com>

/self-hosted-capgois defined inapps/web/public/_redirectsas a302redirect, but this worker sends the request toenv.ASSETS.fetch(...). Because no worker redirect or built asset handles this path, the request can reach the asset-miss response instead of the configured redirect.Add the legacy redirect handling before the asset fetch and cover this route without mocking the redirect from

Problem
Slashless marketing URLs on capgo.app returned HTTP 307 to the trailing-slash form, which can split SEO signals from explicit 301 redirects elsewhere (for example
/capawesome/).Root cause
The web app uses Cloudflare Workers static assets (
wrangler.jsoncassetsbinding). Defaulthtml_handling(auto-trailing-slash) issues 307 when a path maps to a folderindex.html(AstrotrailingSlash: 'always'). The worker runs first (run_worker_first: true) and forwards slashless page URLs toASSETS.fetch, so clients see that temporary redirect.Fix
permanentTrailingSlashLocation()inapps/shared/trailingSlashRedirect.tsand return 301 whenASSETS.fetchresponds with 307 that only adds a trailing slash (query string preserved viaredirectToPath)..) and/api/*._redirectsbehavior for slashless sources such as/self-hosted-capgo(still 302 to docs).html_handling: "force-trailing-slash"inapps/web/wrangler.jsoncto align with Astro.apps/web/test/trailing-slash-redirect.test.js.\ud83d...escape ingithub-releases.jsonthat broke Vite JSON parsing in CI.Verified status codes
Before (production, 2026-10-18):
After (local worker tests):
Preview deploy should show 301 for slashless page URLs such as
