Status update: this was blocked by sqlc's MySQL parser rejecting spatial types such as GEOMETRY (sqlc-dev/sqlc#3741). That is fixed on sqlc main by sqlc-dev/sqlc#4576 (merged 2026-08-21), but it isn't in a release yet. The latest release is v1.31.1 (2026-04-22), which predates the fix.
So the next sqlc release should unblock us. After that we still need to add the spatial type mappings in the MySQL driver (likely MySqlGeometry from MySqlConnector), which I haven't verified yet.
