Description
Node.js detection currently assumes the installation is in a default location:
%ProgramFiles%\nodejs\node.exe
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\nodejs\node.exe
The Node.js MSI lets users choose a custom installation directory, and any MSI-based install outside these two paths goes undetected.
While we should not scan the whole storage to find files, the MSI installation seems to provide a way to get the installation directory from the Windows registry.
The goal of this task is to:
- Identify the possibility of finding a system-wide Node.js installation using MSI metadata stored in the system registry
- Implement a solution if possible
