Add cuPhoton xMon monitoring and agent investigation - #135
Scientific applications need a common way to inspect measurements, findings and revised evidence while their analysis continues. cuPhoton xMon adds that runtime to the existing distribution, with application-owned views, live dashboards, measurement histories and standalone HTML exports.
Sites can expose configured application galleries through cuphoton xmon serve --site DIRECTORY. The shared dashboard adds NVIDIA styling, site navigation, prefix-aware routes and lazy domain views while retaining standalone offline exports. Providers are explicitly installed application callables described by a local xmon-site.toml.
Optional investigation supports explicit OpenAI-compatible endpoints, including institution-hosted and no-auth servers. The NOOA backend iteratively retrieves evidence and bounded application diagnostics in an isolated Python worker; the parent retains model credentials and validates measurement citations. Live sessions support automatic finding investigations and browser questions with progress, cancellation and saved answers. Deterministic monitoring needs no model service or frontend build tools.
Validation: repository lint, typing and hooks; installed wheel quickstart, exports and client/session tests on Python 3.12–3.14; actual NOOA iteration, isolation and cancellation tests on Linux Python 3.12/3.13; fresh Python 3.12 conda construction, native checks and live-session smoke; browser and bounded live synthetic investigation checks. The component guide documents the optional profile, endpoint capabilities and execution limits.

Summary
Scientific records and run state src/cuphoton/xmon/records.py, src/cuphoton/xmon/monitor.py, tests/xmon/test_monitor.py
Adds validated scientific records and persistent run state. The monitor tracks sample revisions, report staleness, recovery, ingestion errors, and storage failures.
Bounded model investigations src/cuphoton/xmon/inference.py, tests/xmon/test_inference.py
Adds configurable HTTP inference, bounded requests, evidence-checked citations, and persisted investigation outcomes. Tests cover request behavior, limits, and failure states.
Adds optional sandboxed NOOA execution with bounded model and evidence queries. Tests cover sandbox isolation, limits, and worker cleanup.
Polling and investigation jobs src/cuphoton/xmon/session.py, tests/xmon/test_session.py
Adds polling and investigation queues, automatic investigation of unseen finding revisions, cancellation, and session recovery.
Dashboard rendering and HTTP access src/cuphoton/xmon/dashboard.py, src/cuphoton/xmon/assets/*, tests/xmon/test_monitor.py, tests/xmon/test_session.py, tests/xmon/test_site.py
Adds dashboard rendering, offline export, live refresh, and HTTP routes for saved state and investigation actions.
CLI, site mounting, and package integration src/cuphoton/xmon/commands.py, src/cuphoton/xmon/site.py, src/cuphoton/core/cli/component.py, pyproject.toml, Makefile, README.md, docs/*, tests/core/test_cli_contract.py, tests/test_package_layout.py, tests/test_rename_contract.py, tests/xmon/test_site.py
Adds xMon CLI commands and manifest-based site serving. Registers the component, packages optional extras and dashboard assets, and updates documentation and contract checks.

Reaching the report limit no longer stops live collection, and idle polling no longer repeatedly persists unchanged state. The reviewed changes are mergeable after normal checks.

Collect revisioned measurements and findings with recoverable local

Keep bounded endpoint-configurable investigation separate from

Let applications run bounded evidence investigations alongside live
collection, and expose questions, progress and cancellation in the
dashboard. Keep model credentials in the parent process and isolate
generated Python with explicit evidence queries.

Load installed application sites from local TOML manifests while
preserving the saved-state viewer. Keep dashboard requests inside
their URL mount and load detailed live views on selection.

Use a responsive charcoal and green layout with clearer measurement
controls, sample selection and connection status. Let host sites
provide a breadcrumb and introductory text in the shared viewer.

Report the cause of application import failures, preserve sample
bookmarks when skipping to measurements, and explain pending domain
views during a connection outage. Keep mounted redirect queries and
document shared UI metadata for host applications.

Classify invalid NOOA answers and citations as evidence validation
failures instead of transport failures. Preserve bounded validator
reasons while keeping model response content out of failed reports.

- Around line 151-161: Replace the chained substitutions in the dashboard
template-rendering method with a single-pass substitution so inserted panel and
data content is not scanned for other placeholders. Preserve the existing values
and escaping for __TITLE__, __STYLE__, __PANELS__, __DATA__, and __SCRIPT__.
Review comments at @src/cuphoton/xmon/monitor.py:
- Around line 110-130: Update _collector to skip commits when the collector
status is unchanged, and revise _main to read detached reports plus only the
sample metadata needed for automatic investigations instead of copying the full
state each iteration. In save_report, avoid copying and committing the full
state when no report data changes; preserve persistence for actual updates.
Review comments at @src/cuphoton/xmon/session.py:
- Around line 337-344: In the automatic-investigation path around `_submit`, add
local handling for submission failures so they do not escape to `_main` and stop
polling. Add `identity` to `_seen` before submitting to prevent repeated
attempts, then report the failure visibly and disable `auto_investigate`; keep
the live polling loop active.
