[Bug]: Long filenames are truncated on Android with no way to reveal the full name
What happened?
When browsing or selecting files in the nati.ve Android app, long filenames are heavily truncated.
On my phone, sometimes only approximately the first 12 characters are visible. Depending on the layout, parts of the middle or end of the filename are replaced by ellipses.
The main problem is that there appears to be no reliable way to reveal the complete filename before selecting a file.
Tapping, long-pressing, and checking the available actions do not provide a usable solution in the affected view.
This makes it practically impossible to distinguish between files with similar names.
For example:
- "Annual_Report_Project_2024.pdf"
- "Annual_Report_Project_2025.pdf"
- "Annual_Report_Project_2026.pdf"
All three may appear almost identical when their names are truncated.
This is a serious usability problem for everyday document management, especially when selecting files for opening, sharing, editing, or other operations.
Expected behavior
Every file should have an accessible way to display its complete, unmodified filename.
Possible solutions include:
- Allowing filenames to wrap across multiple lines.
- Displaying the complete filename when tapping or long-pressing its label.
- Providing a file details dialog that reliably shows the full filename.
- Adding an option to copy the complete filename.
- Supporting adaptive layouts that use available screen space instead of unnecessarily truncating names.
The solution should also work for filenames containing important differences in the middle or at the end, including years, version numbers, and file extensions.

Nextcloud server and affected app versions
[Insert server version if known]
Reproduction steps
- Create three test files with the names shown above.
- Upload them into the same Nextcloud folder.
- Open that folder in nati.ve on Android.
- View or select the files in portrait orientation.
- Observe that important parts of the filenames are hidden.
- Try tapping, long-pressing, or using the available item actions to reveal the full filename.
- Observe that there is no reliable way to identify the correct file in the affected view.
Impact
This affects a fundamental file-management operation: identifying the correct file before acting on it.
The problem is particularly severe for documents with standardized naming conventions, backups, versioned files, invoices, contracts, and yearly archives.
A user should never have to guess which file is being selected.

The official Nextcloud Android client has experienced similar usability problems. The existing upstream discussions may be useful references.
I would appreciate a reliable full-filename display being treated as an essential file-browser capability rather than an optional cosmetic improvement.
Thank you for considering this improvement.

Reproduction steps
- Open nati.ve on Android.
- Navigate to a Nextcloud folder containing files with long, similar filenames.
- Example test files:
- Annual_Report_Project_2024.pdf
- Annual_Report_Project_2025.pdf
- Annual_Report_Project_2026.pdf
- View the files in portrait orientation.
- Observe that the filenames are truncated, sometimes leaving only approximately the first 12 characters visible.
- Try tapping, long-pressing, or using the available actions to reveal the full filename.
- Notice that there is no reliable way to see the complete filename before selecting or opening the file.
Expected result: The complete filename should be accessible through an expanded display, multiple lines, or a simple details dialog.
Actual result: Important parts of filenames remain hidden, making similar files difficult or impossible to distinguish.
