CORE-6123: run_sonar_scan 2.0.0 — download coverage by pattern - #137

Callers merge per-package coverage in an extra job and pass a conditional artifact name. With coverage-artifact-pattern (default coverage-*) the workflow downloads every coverage-<package> artifact itself, so callers need neither. A pattern that matches nothing downloads nothing without failing (download-artifact v7.0.0 and v8.0.2), so the job warns and adds a summary line instead of guarding the step. A single match lands directly in the path, so the README recommends the lcov wildcard .sonar-coverage/**/lcov.info, which SonarJS supports and which covers both layouts. The job becomes scan / "Scan" for the CI standard's check names, and the dependabot/renovate skip moves into the job. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

documentation so multi-package reports use package-qualified project-relative
paths, avoiding ambiguous source-file suffix matches. Keep the single-artifact
behavior clear, and verify the path mapping with two packages sharing a
source-file suffix using the analyzer from the first SonarCloud rollout.

downloaded coverage from arbitrary files in the destination.

The coverage report listed every file under coverage-artifact-path, so a caller passing "." would see repository files reported as coverage and get no warning, and an artifact without lcov.info counted as coverage. The job now fails if the path already has content before the download, and reports only lcov.info files. The README claimed SonarJS maps package-relative SF: paths by suffix. It resolves them against the report's directory first, and this workflow moves reports into .sonar-coverage/, so it falls back to a suffix match that guesses when two packages share a path (SonarJS CoverageSensorDuplicateSuffixPathReproducerTest). The README now asks callers for repository-relative paths via the lcov reporter's projectRoot option. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Repository-relative SF: paths are needed whenever Jest runs outside the repository root, not only in multi-package repos. identity-auth has one package but runs Jest from lambdas/auth-api. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Engineers need the call, the three coverage setup steps and the inputs. The download layouts and SonarJS path-resolution rationale stay in the PR and commit history. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Description of Changes
Major release of
run_sonar_scanfor the CI standard. Callers today merge per-package coverage in an extra job and pass a conditionalcoverage-artifact-nameoutput. With this release, the workflow downloads everycoverage-<package>artifact itself, so callers need neither.Breaking
sonar-scan("Run SonarQube scan") becomesscan("Scan"). With a caller jobsonar/ "Sonar", the check readsSonar / Scan.coverage-artifact-nameis removed and replaced bycoverage-artifact-pattern(defaultcoverage-*). Every same-run artifact whose name matches is downloaded.coverage-artifact-pathnow defaults to.sonar-coverage, not..permissions: {}at the top, and the job requestscontents: readwith a reason, so the caller job must grant it.Other changes
if, so callers can drop it.lcov.info, the job emits a::warning::and a job-summary line, and the scan still runs without coverage. As agreed, there's nocoverage-requiredinput.coverage-artifact-pathalready exists with content in the checkout, so repository files are never reported as coverage.coverage-artifact-pattern: ''skips the download.Versioning

None. All callers pin 1.3.0 by SHA, so nothing changes for them until they upgrade in the CI-standard rollout.
Testing
Verify item:
download-artifactwith a pattern that matches nothing. It succeeds and downloads nothing, so no guard is needed:v7.0.0(37930b1) and ofv8.0.2(Renovate Update actions/download-artifact action to v8 #128), the pattern filter just narrows the list. There's no throw on an empty result; the action logs "Total of 0 artifact(s) downloaded" and exits successfully. The only throws are for a missing named artifact, missing IDs, and digest mismatches.path(.sonar-coverage/lcov.info) rather than intopath/<artifact-name>/. With two or more, each gets its own directory. The README documents both layouts.Verify item: does Sonar accept a wildcard in
sonar.javascript.lcov.reportPaths? Yes, so one value works in every repo:CoverageSensorresolves each report path with analyzer-commonsFileProvider, which uses Sonar'sWildcardPattern. There,**/matches zero or more directories, so.sonar-coverage/**/lcov.infocovers both the single-artifact and multi-artifact layouts. The README recommends this value.SF:paths must be repository-relative (CodeRabbit finding, verified in SonarJS source). SonarJS resolves a package-relativeSF:src/index.tsagainst the report's own directory and its ancestors first, then falls back to a suffix match that guesses when ambiguous (CoverageSensorDuplicateSuffixPathReproducerTest). This workflow moves reports into.sonar-coverage/, so callers must write paths likeSF:lambdas/<package>/src/index.ts. Istanbul's lcov reporter does that withprojectRoot, and the README shows the Jest config. This affects the app-ci standard for every repo whose Jest runs outside the repository root, including single-package repos like identity-auth (lambdas/auth-api).Other checks
.in a non-empty repo fails, while the default.sonar-coverageand an empty existing directory pass.lcov.infoboth warn; two artifacts withlcov.infolist both files. All exit 0.npm run cipasses: audit, 71 Jest tests, ESLint, Prettier and Semgrep.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
