Big swaths of buildings missing from your building vector data in Los Angeles

Hi- I have rasterized the Overture building data for the lower 48 twice, once with May 2026 data and once with August 2026 data. Both times there are strips of LA buildings missing from the source Overture vector data that also end up missing in the raster version. I have not investigated other areas, so this phenomena could be happening elsewhere. It is obvious when overlaid with any imagery so I'm unsure which of your sources is missing there. I also wanted to speak with you all about possibly sharing my rasterization code so that you might consider doing this rasterization with every release. I'm able to rasterize all of conus to 30m for building cover and building area in an afternoon on google cloud and mosaic it into two geotiffs. This is useful for wildland fire fuel applications. I am the LANDFIRE program lead for the Forest Service and we need building data for our maps and were hoping to use yours, if the missing buildings could be addressed.

Hello Inga La Puma (@lapuma). I am wondering if you could provide some details around where you are seeing missing buildings. Do you have bounding boxes that you could provide?

As for the tile generation we have generally avoided the creation of custom tile sets and instead provided a reference tile implementation that users can leverage for tile generation. We are currently internally discussing how we want to handle tiles, stay tuned!

Hi Inga, at Esri we convert the entire Overture release to file geodatabase each month. I checked a couple of your locations in the August release and I'm not seeing any obvious missing buildings:

I'm not sure what your exact use case is (though it sounds like you need raster data) or if you're an ArcGIS user, but we do host a 2d vector tile basemap and 3d layers created from Overture data. We're also working on adding a buildings Parquet feature layer to the group of layers that we've already published.
