Description

@Mr-Gagnon

Your question

HelpInfoUri points to GitHub documentation and causes Save-Help / Update-Help failures

(Not realy a bug, more an integration issue)

Summary

The Plaster module provides local help successfully, but Save-Help and Update-Help always fail.

The module manifest contains:

HelpInfoURI = 'https://github.com/PowerShellOrg/Plaster/tree/master/docs'

The URL points to GitHub documentation rather than a PowerShell Updatable Help repository.

Reproduction

Save-Help -Module Plaster -DestinationPath C:\Temp

or

Update-Help -Module Plaster

Actual Result

PowerShell reports:

HelpInfoUri does not resolve to a valid help content container.

Verification

The module help is already available locally:

Get-Help Invoke-Plaster -Full
Get-Help Get-PlasterTemplate -Full
Get-Help New-PlasterManifest -Full
Get-Help about_Plaster
Get-Help about_Plaster_CreatingAManifest

All of these commands return valid help content.

Expected Result

One of the following:

Option 1

Provide a valid Updatable Help endpoint containing:

  • HelpInfo.xml
  • language-specific help content
  • CAB/ZIP help packages

Option 2

If Updatable Help is not intended to be supported, remove the HelpInfoURI entry from the module manifest to avoid Save-Help and Update-Help attempting to download help from a non-compatible location.

Environment

Plaster 2.1.3
PowerShell 7.x
Windows

Additional Notes

The module appears to work correctly and local help is present.

The issue seems to be that HelpInfoURI points to GitHub documentation rather than to a PowerShell Updatable Help repository, causing Save-Help and Update-Help to fail consistently.
