Exeggscape is a Windows catch planner for Safari Zone RNG manipulation in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen.
It searches for human usable Safari Ball catch clusters and complete Bait plus Rock routes from an Encounter Seed and PID. Results are shown as ready to use EonTimer intervals, including the total time required for every route.
Exeggscape is currently an alpha release. Retail testing has so far been performed only with the German version of Pokémon FireRed.
- Ball only catch cluster search
- Complete Bait plus Rock route planning
- International and Japanese Safari rule models
- Sweet Scent and fishing encounter timing
- PID verification for Methods 1, 2 and 4
- Automatic fishing timing for fishing only species
- Manual Sweet Scent or fishing selection for Psyduck and Slowpoke
- Configurable minimum size for every timed window
- Separate sizes shown for the first flee window, Bait window and final catch cluster
- Total time shown for every result
- English and German interface
- Native resizable Windows interface
You need:
- A Windows computer
- EonTimer
- An Encounter Seed and PID for your target
- Ten Lines or PokéFinder
Ten Lines is recommended because it provides the Encounter Seed, PID and target information in one place.
- Find your target in Ten Lines or PokéFinder.
- Select the species in Exeggscape.
- Enter the Encounter Seed and PID.
- Choose Ball only or Bait plus Rock.
- For Bait plus Rock, select the applicable Safari rule model.
- Leave the advanced settings at their defaults unless you have a reason to change them.
- Select Find catch clusters or Find best routes.
- Enter the displayed values into EonTimer exactly as shown.
- Follow the inputs shown for the selected result.
The first result is normally the route you will want to use.
Ball only searches for a cluster where all four Safari Ball shake checks succeed.
Each result displays:
- Catch cluster
- Aim advance
- EonTimer interval
- Total time
- Final catch cluster size
Press A on Safari Ball at the final beep.
Bait plus Rock searches for one complete connected route:
- Press A on the wild Pokémon text at the Phase 1 beep.
- Press A on Bait at the Phase 2 beep.
- Throw Rock during Phase 3.
- Return to Safari Ball and press A at the final beep.
Rock itself is not a timed input. Phase 3 provides at least approximately 30 seconds for menu navigation.
The displayed route includes separate sizes for:
- The first flee window
- The Bait window
- The final catch cluster
The selected Minimum safe cluster value is enforced independently for the first flee window, the Bait window and the final Safari Ball catch cluster. Individual windows may be larger than the selected minimum.
This limits how far Exeggscape searches.
The default value is normally sufficient and can usually be left unchanged.
This controls the required minimum size of every timed window in a complete route.
The recommended default is 12.
Lowering this value may produce faster results, but it reduces the timing tolerance of the first flee input, the Bait input and the final catch input. Values such as 8 are considerably tighter and should be used at your own risk.
The value is a lower bound, not a fixed output. With a minimum of 12, a valid route may show 17 / 16 / 12.
This controls how many route suggestions are displayed.
The first result is normally the best proposal and the one you will want to use.
Additional results provide alternative timings. Multiple routes may lead to the same final catch cluster. Routes using the same final catch cluster also have the same total time. Only the distribution of time between their phases changes.
The rule selector appears only when Bait plus Rock is enabled because Ball only uses the same catch calculation in both modes.
International FireRed and LeafGreen reduce the flee factor after Bait.
The Japanese mode implements the mathematical behaviour currently expected from the known Japanese Safari Zone bug, where Bait and Rock modify the catch factor but do not modify the flee factor.
This changes the available Bait windows and therefore changes the distribution of time between Phase 2 and Phase 3.
The Japanese model has not yet been validated on Japanese retail hardware.
Sweet Scent is used for encounters on land and while surfing.
Fishing only species automatically use the fishing timing model.
Psyduck and Slowpoke can be encountered through either method, so Exeggscape allows Sweet Scent or fishing to be selected manually for those species.
Fishing timing begins with A on the Pokémon is on the hook message.
Rod casting, dots and obtaining a bite are separate from the catch route.
Retail testing has so far been performed only with the German version of Pokémon FireRed.
FireRed and LeafGreen use the same underlying Safari and RNG mechanics, so LeafGreen compatibility is expected. LeafGreen has not yet been tested directly by the creator.
No other game language has been tested.
The Japanese rules model has not yet been validated on Japanese retail hardware.

While Exeggscape is labelled as an alpha release, please avoid publishing videos, livestreams, tutorials, guides, reviews, showcases or presentations centred on the program.
Pretend Passing intends to introduce Exeggscape properly in an official video after returning from Japan.
Testing, discussion, bug reports, code review and contributions are welcome during the alpha period.
This is a community request and not a restriction imposed by the software licence. It ends automatically with the first release that is explicitly no longer labelled Alpha.
Exeggscape was created, researched, tested and directed by Pretend Passing.
The Go and native Windows implementation was produced with OpenAI Codex and ChatGPT under the direction of Pretend Passing.
The research model, requirements, emulator measurements, TAS work, retail testing and acceptance evidence were provided and verified by Pretend Passing. AI generated implementation work was treated as untrusted until checked against measured results and tests.
