Refs #877 (the separately reported pywt.__version__ discrepancy).

Current main declares 1.11.0.dev0 in both pyproject.toml and Meson, but util/version_utils.py still generates 1.8.0.dev0+<revision>. A wheel built from main therefore reports different package and runtime versions. This can make environment reports and runtime version checks identify a current build as PyWavelets 1.8.

Synchronize the generator's minor version with the existing 1.11 development metadata. The release flag and version-generation mechanism remain unchanged.

Validation on Windows/Python 3.12.14, NumPy 2.5.4, Cython 3.3.0, Meson 1.12.1 and MSVC 19.44:

  • Built the unmodified main wheel with Meson and installed it in an isolated environment. Distribution metadata: 1.11.0.dev0; runtime: 1.8.0.dev0+c9b542b. A comparison of the base version fails.
  • Rebuilt and reinstalled the fixed wheel: metadata 1.11.0.dev0, runtime 1.11.0.dev0+c9b542b; the same comparison passes.
  • The installed compiled package's full test suite passed: 1,052 passed, 2 skipped, using the repository pytest configuration.
  • Applicable configured prek hooks and git diff --check passed.

No transform code was changed. Other platforms and the release publishing workflow were not tested. Codex investigated and prepared this AI-assisted contribution autonomously; no independent human review is claimed.
