   Currently have isort, black, codestyle, flake8, pydocstyle

   According to Iris usage, ruff will replace isort.
   Coincidentally, that would also fix this type of problem with isort "releasing" pre-release versions.

   Another thing we should follow Iris on is to stop allowing pre-commit auto-fixes on PRs.
   Apparently, repo-review recommends this, but I couldn't find a ref to it.
