What

The embedded-mode Open WebUI wheel pin in chat/proxy.py still pointed at the
v0.11.4.3-subpath release, even though:

  • the docker image default (docker-compose.yml) already uses :v0.12.0-subpath, and
  • the subpath docs (deploy/openwebui-subpath/UPGRADE.md, README.md) already track v0.12.0 as the current ported base.

So embedded/CLI-uvicorn mode was silently serving an older build than docker mode. This aligns the embedded launch with the published v0.12.0-subpath wheel so both modes serve the same build, and updates the config comment + test assertion to match.

Changes (3 files, 4 lines)

  • chat/proxy.py — OWUI_WHEEL_URL default → v0.12.0-subpath/open_webui-0.12.0-py3-none-any.whl
  • chat/config.py — comment reference 0.11.4.3-subpath → 0.12.0-subpath
  • chat/tests/test_proxy.py — wheel-URL assertion updated to v0.12.0

No behavior change beyond which OWUI build embedded mode launches.

Verification

  • uv run pytest -m "not embedded_hatchet" → 1120 passed, 2 skipped (skips are expected: one needs DEMO_MODE=true, one is Postgres-specific)
  • uv run ruff check . → clean
  • Confirmed open_webui-0.12.0-py3-none-any.whl exists on the SushantGautam/open-webui v0.12.0-subpath release
