Summary

Documents how to limit the resolution of Millicast (OptiView Real-time) streams with the OptiView Player, so the Millicast player pages cover the APIs that already shipped.

  • Web (millicast/playback/players-sdks/web/player), available since 11.13.0:
    • player.abr.preferredMaximumResolution = { width, height } caps the resolution during playback without reconnecting. Set it to undefined to remove the cap.
    • source.abr.restrictToPlayerSize = true caps the stream to the smallest layer that still covers the player's rendered size and updates when the player is resized. For Millicast this applies only when set explicitly to true; unlike HLS/DASH, it is not on by default on mobile.
    • When both are set, the most restrictive limit wins, using the smallest width and the smallest height.
    • Note: an active cap replaces connectOptions.layer.maxWidth/maxHeight. Removing the cap returns to the full ABR range, not to the connectOptions.layer values.
  • iOS, available since 11.5.0: theoplayer.abr.preferredMaximumResolution = CGSize(...). Set it to .zero to remove the cap.
  • Android, available since 11.5.0: player.abr.preferredMaximumResolution = Size(...). Set it to null to remove the cap. Selecting a quality with targetQuality pins playback to that layer and turns off ABR; while a layer is pinned, the cap is ignored.

Behaviour and version numbers come from the SDK implementations and the SDK release notes (11.5.0 and 11.13.0).

Checks: npm run check-format, npm run lint and npm run build pass, with no broken-link or anchor warnings for the edited pages.

The React Native Millicast page is not changed: it covers the Millicast Web SDK with react-native-webrtc, not react-native-theoplayer.

I'll fix CI failures and address comments from users with write access. I'll skip comments containing "(aside)".
