Why

The release workflow publishes to npm and pushes the tag, but never creates a GitHub release. The cli-docs "Documentation release check" compares GitHub's latest stable release with npm, so it failed after every zoom release until the release was made by hand (v0.29.0, v0.30.0).

What

  • .github/workflows/release.yml: the tag job gets a step after the tag push that creates the release, copied from tg-cli, max-cli and drive-cli. awk cuts the ## <version> section from CHANGELOG.md and pipes it to gh release create "v$VERSION" --title "$VERSION" --notes-file -. The title is the bare version, as in the existing releases ("0.30.0"). It uses the contents: write permission the job already has; no new action, no new permission.
  • docs/dev/RELEASING.md: drops the manual "create the GitHub release" step; keeps a recovery note for when the tag job fails.

Testing

  • The awk extraction run locally on CHANGELOG.md for 0.30.0 prints exactly that section.
  • pnpm standards:check, pnpm lint, pnpm docs:lint, pnpm docs:check pass.
  • actionlint 1.7.7: clean. zizmor: same two findings as on main (both pre-existing), none new.
  • Not exercised end to end: no release is made in this PR. The next zoom release will run the new step.

The release workflow published to npm and pushed the tag but never created
a GitHub release. The cli-docs documentation release check compares
GitHub's latest stable release with npm, so it failed after every zoom
release until someone created the release by hand (0.29.0, 0.30.0).

The tag job now creates the release right after pushing the tag, the same
way tg-cli, max-cli and drive-cli do: title is the bare version, notes are
that version's CHANGELOG.md section. It reuses the job's existing
contents: write permission; no new action or permission is added.

docs/dev/RELEASING.md drops the manual "publish the GitHub release" step
and keeps only the recovery path for a failed tag job.
