[C++][FlightRPC][ODBC] Fix Windows ODBC Installer Registering Empty Driver and Setup Paths #53818

Closed

Description

@alinaliBQ

Describe the bug, including details regarding any error messages, version, and platform.

With Windows ODBC installer, users have run into error:
The setup routines for the Apache Arrow Flight SQL ODBC driver ODBC driver could not be found. Please reinstall the driver. And users cannot use the ODBC driver as a result.
Users are seeing this error because ODBC driver registry Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\Apache Arrow Flight SQL ODBC Driver is missing the correct Driver and Setup values.

The issue is introduced by #49766 when arrow_flight_sql_odbc CPack component is renamed to ArrowFlightSQLODBC. To fix this, we need to update the CM_FP_arrow_flight_sql_odbc to CM_FP_ArrowFlightSQLODBC in cpp/src/arrow/flight/sql/odbc/install/windows/arrow-flight-sql-odbc.wxs.

    Hello @raulcd Do you know when the cutoff is for the 26.0.1 release? Since this fix is critical to unblocking users from using ODBC on Windows, I’d like to work toward getting the commit merged in time for the release if possible. Thanks!

    @alinaliBQ currently there are no plans for a 26.0.1 patch release. If a new patch release is necessary we should raise it on the dev mailing list and discuss whether it should be done and who can act as a release manager for it.
