To run the test manually without maven (eg, when in idea), make sure Selenium 1.0.3 is running on port 4545 with the usersExtension in src/main/javascript loaded (java -jar selenium-server.jar -port 4545 -userExtensions <path to project>/src/main/javascript/user-extensions.js)
