Error when trying to parse multiple rows via Relational API values #79
When trying to utilize the values() function for converting a native Python object into a relation, I am unable to create a relation with multiple rows and columns.
This is fixed in 2.0.0: duckdb.values((1, 'a'), (2, 'b')) now returns two rows typed INTEGER and VARCHAR, and a str in a tuple is a value, not a column reference. I checked it against the 2.0.0 release and current main. The list spellings still give one row, because a single list is one row by contract; #407 tracks that question. Closing as fixed in 2.0.0, please reopen if you still see it.

This seems like a bug:
values()is a bit of a neglected function I'm afraid.Tishj commentedon Sep 26, 2025
Er, I think what
valuesdoes is turn the inputs into expressions, and astrto expression implicitly becomes a column reference.You could work around this by explicitly turning the
strinto a Constant expressionduckdb.ConstantExpression('a')evertlammerts commentedon Oct 27, 2026
