4.0.105

Patch Changes

  • 47b1d8b: feat(openai): send native JSON input and prompt cache keys to Decisions

  • d07b475: fix(openai): map top-level reasoning to efforts supported by GPT-5.x models instead of sending unsupported values that OpenAI rejects with a 400. max is now only sent on the Responses API, and GPT-5.6 on Chat Completions sends reasoning_effort: 'none' when function tools are used, since it rejects function tools with reasoning. A warning is emitted when a reasoning level was requested.

  • 61a315e: fix: map the top-level reasoning option consistently across providers

Providers now resolve reasoning the same way:

    1. A provider-specific reasoning setting in providerOptions is sent unchanged. OpenAI no longer drops providerOptions.openai.reasoningEffort values that are not in its list for the model, and Fireworks no longer rewrites providerOptions.fireworks.reasoningEffort. Fireworks also sends top-level reasoning values directly instead of rounding them to 'high' at most, except for model families known to reject 'none' (GPT-OSS, GLM-5.3, Muse Spark) or 'minimal' (Nemotron, Inkling).
    2. Otherwise, reasoning maps to the closest level the model supports, rounding down, and rounds up only when there is no lower level. For example, 'xhigh' now maps to 'high' instead of 'max' on Anthropic and Bedrock models without xhigh effort, and 'medium' maps to 'low' instead of 'high' on DeepSeek, Kimi K3, and Mistral GLM-5.3 models.
    3. 'none' on a model that cannot disable reasoning maps to the model's lowest level with a compatibility warning, instead of being dropped or sending a request the API rejects. This affects GPT-6 models without 'none', xAI grok-4.5 and later, Groq GPT-OSS, Kimi K3, Perplexity, QuiverAI, Bedrock OpenAI gpt-oss models, and Gemini 2.5 Pro (minimum thinking budget). Gemini 3 and Anthropic and Bedrock between_tools mappings now emit the compatibility warning too.

mapReasoningToProviderEffort now accepts any reasoning value, returns an optional providerOptionsEffort unchanged, and rounds levels that are missing from the effort map to the closest supported level. mapReasoningToProviderBudget maps 'none' to the minimum reasoning budget, always returns a budget, and uses the default percentage for levels missing from budgetPercentages. OpenAICompatibleChatConfig adds an optional mapReasoning function for mapping the top-level reasoning option.

4.0.104

Patch Changes

  • 01d7a03: feat(openai): add GPT-6.1 Terra model support

  • 599a97f: fix(openai): read transcription duration from usage for duration-billed json responses

durationInSeconds now falls back to usage.seconds when usage.type is duration and the response has no top-level duration (e.g. gpt-transcribe with the default json response format).

  • 8375141: Support streaming transcription with gpt-live-transcribe and gpt-transcribe. For these models the language provider option is sent as a single-entry languages list. gpt-transcribe warns about and omits streaming.delay, which it does not support. gpt-live-transcribe rejects non-streaming transcription, since it has no REST endpoint.

  • 7eac057: fix(openai): strip propertyNames schemas that omit type: 'string' (e.g. Zod 3 records with constrained keys) instead of throwing an unsupported functionality error

  • 436374e: fix(openai): report unfinished web searches as tool errors

  • 9026c7d: fix(openai): only send transcription response format and timestamp defaults when needed

Transcription requests no longer send response_format=verbose_json or timestamp_granularities[]=segment unless the caller sets them or the model needs them. Previously, any providerOptions.openai value (such as a prompt) caused verbose_json to be sent for models like gpt-transcribe, which rejected the request.

Patch Changes

Patch Changes

  • #12026 178af31 Thanks @eliornl! - fix(core): deliver callbacks once to a handler registered twice by merged configs

Merging two runnable configs that both carry the same callback handler, as happens when an agent's streamEvents() runs inside a LangGraph node with tracing on, registered that handler twice, so it received every callback twice: every streamed chunk arrived twice. The configured callback manager now keeps each handler once, in order, including a handler passed as a plain object of methods that merged configs wrapped twice.

  • #12042 50343ba Thanks @sera-wi! - fix(core): include node metadata in Graph.toJSON() output when set, matching Python

  • #12048 304d190 Thanks @sera-wi! - fix(core): escape drawMermaid node metadata labels and leave out object values, so metadata with brackets or objects no longer breaks Mermaid parsing

Updates @langchain/langgraph from 1.5.2 to 1.5.3

Release notes

Sourced from @langchain/langgraph's releases.

@langchain/langgraph-api@1.5.3

Patch Changes

  • #2961 1631fd8 Thanks @soarez! - order parallel writes by task path, like langgraph (Python) — one sort key for live execution and every saver, instead of the task-id order #2544 added for DeltaChannel writes

When two or more tasks in one superstep write the same DeltaChannel, their writes are now applied and replayed in (task_path, task_id, idx) order — the order Python's langgraph#8544 established — instead of task-id order. Task ids are uuid5 hashes that include the checkpoint id, so the old order permuted parallel writers from run to run and disagreed with Python.

    • BaseCheckpointSaver.putWrites takes an optional taskPath (the serialized task path, taskPathStr), and getTuple/list must return pendingWrites in the new writesSortKey order. writesSortKey and compareWritesSortKeys are new exports of @langchain/langgraph-checkpoint; every saver (memory, SQLite, Postgres, Redis incl. ShallowRedisSaver, MongoDB) stores the path and sorts in JS — no database collation is involved.
    • SQLite and Postgres gain a task_path column (migrated automatically on setup(); read-only pre-column SQLite databases keep reading, with their rows keeping the old order). Redis and MongoDB documents gain a task_path field. Rows written before the upgrade keep their old order.
    • Exit-durability resumes replay delta writes in live order (port of langgraph#9114): the resumed superstep's writes interleave with the loaded ones by task path, later supersteps sort after every real write, and writes loaded with the checkpoint are no longer stored twice.
    • bulkUpdateState seals the first update superstep: DeltaChannels touched by the base checkpoint's pending writes (and whose version moved) snapshot on the update checkpoint, so a finished sibling's writes and the update's can't replay in the wrong order (partial port of langgraph#8548).
    • bulkUpdateState/updateState update tasks carry (__interrupt__, i) task paths, as in langgraph#9128, so several updates in one superstep writing the same DeltaChannel replay in the order given.
    • Send task paths become [PUSH, i, false] and node-error-handler paths become [*failedTask.path[:3], "node_error_handler", false] (the failed task's first three path elements), matching Python's shapes — langgraph_path task metadata changes accordingly, and task ids of functional task() calls under a Send or handler task change with them. The SDK's Send-task detection accepts both the old and new shapes.

    Upgrade notes:

    • PostgresSaver: run setup() once after upgrading, from one process, before the new version serves traffic. The task_path column comes from the first new migration since the saver shipped, and until it runs, reads and writes fail with column "task_path" does not exist. Several processes running setup() at once on a database that still needs the migration can fail with a duplicate key error on checkpoint_migrations.
    • Third-party checkpoint savers remain source-compatible but must now persist the taskPath they are given and return pendingWrites in writesSortKey order; the conformance suite's new base tests enforce this. A saver that ignores the new argument replays in task-id order and can rebuild a different DeltaChannel value than the run produced.
    • An incomplete superstep containing stored delta writes that must interleave with resumed or retried task writes is affected by the upgrade, whether the incompleteness came from an interrupt, a task error, a crash, or a drain: finish such threads with the old runtime before upgrading writers. A single interrupted node with no finished delta-writing siblings is safe to resume. The same applies to resuming work that includes functional task() calls under a Send or error-handler task, whose child task ids change.
    • @langchain/langgraph-checkpoint 1.2.0 must be released before any package requiring its new exports; the consumers' minimum ranges are raised accordingly.

7.0.155

Patch Changes

  • b6b9dca: chore(ai): remove runtime validation of inputs that TypeScript types already guarantee

streamText, generateText, generateObject and streamObject no longer validate messages against the ModelMessage schema. This removes a cost that grew linearly with message history and was paid on every streamText step. Type checks on call settings, steering messages, tool caller configuration, smoothStream chunking, experimental_streamSpeech text input, the shape of decide state and questions, and the batch reference version have also been removed. Value constraints that types cannot express, such as integer ranges, non-empty collections, unknown keys, and non-finite numbers or cycles in decide JSON input, are still validated.

v7.44.0

7.44.0 (2026-10-25)

Features

  • api: add delegation controls and prompt cache lifetimes and scheduled automations via client.beta.agents.automations, including invocation endpoints and the automations agent-tool variant (#3029) (d8931e7)
  • api: expand Live Decision item and question types. Breaking change in a minor release. Live Decision item events now include messages and function/custom-tool calls and outputs. DecisionItemCreatedEvent.item and DecisionItemCreateEvent.item are unions, so callers that directly access item.content or item.role may no longer compile. For both event types, use if ('content' in event.item) before accessing message fields, and handle tool-item variants separately. Message items may omit type, so checking only item.type === 'message' can skip valid messages. This release also updates image-model documentation: gpt-image-1 was shut down on October 23, 2026; replace explicit selections with gpt-image-2.5-sunburst or gpt-image-2.5-flare. The documented default for Responses image-generation tools is now gpt-image-2; specify a supported model explicitly when you need a particular model. (#3034) (7562cd2)
