Summary

  • Uniform Global Navigation: Reused standard public SideRail and OverflowDrawer inside AdminLayout.vue so there is no layout jump or separate fragmented admin rail.

    • Resource Moderation (moderate resources)
    • Manage Contents / Subjects
    • Manage Forum (manage forums)
    • Support Tickets (manage tickets)
    • Site Notice (edit notice)
    • Global Chat (manage chat)
    • Users & Roles (view users)

Walkthrough

The admin layout now uses shared responsive navigation. The dashboard adds permission-filtered management tools and reorganizes overview statistics and traffic analytics.

Changes

Admin experience

Layer / File(s) Summary
Shared responsive admin layout
resources/js/layouts/AdminLayout.vue
The layout replaces admin-specific navigation with the shared rail, drawer, and bottom navigation. It selects navigation visibility based on hydrated breakpoint and orientation state, and stores rail collapse state in rail_collapsed.
Management tools and dashboard overview
resources/js/pages/admin/Dashboard.vue
The dashboard adds management links filtered by permission when specified. It replaces the prior header and guide card with a staff dashboard header and compact overview statistics.
Analytics states and traffic sources
resources/js/pages/admin/Dashboard.vue
The dashboard presents unloaded, loading, and loaded analytics states, plus traffic sources and their visit counts. Analytics error messages are now in English.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 0d912

The admin layout and dashboard changes have two small UI problems: analytics load failures are not shown, and the bottom navigation may overlap the last content on some screen sizes. Both are easy to fix and do not block merging once owners are aware.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 0d912

The navigation and dashboard changes preserve existing server-side access restrictions. No material security risk was found to be introduced or worsened by this PR.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The change reorganizes discoverability of existing site-management functions without expanding their configured authorization scope. Existing users lacking the required server permissions do not gain authority from the new launcher.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • inferred — Manipulating client-side permission data or requesting management URLs directly can bypass link visibility, but not the configured server authorization gates. The compared change therefore does not establish a new privilege-escalation path.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The shared admin link uses auth.can_access_admin, derived from a cached server-side view admin permission check. This visibility flag is distinct from request authorization: the admin route group independently requires authentication, verification and view admin permission.
  • observed — Privileged handlers retain operation-specific controls, including resource moderation, notice editing, email sending and user impersonation. A launcher link does not replace these controls.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — The layout now shares the rail_collapsed browser preference rather than using admin_rail_collapsed. Initialization and persistence tolerate unavailable storage; the stored value controls presentation only and is not consulted by authorization gates.

Preserve bottom clearance at responsive breakpoints.

BottomNav is SiteBottomNav, which is fixed to the viewport bottom. When showBottomNav is true, sm:p-6 and lg:p-8 can override the conditional bottom padding. The last dashboard content can then sit behind the navigation.

Analytics errors are no longer shown.

fetchAnalytics sets errorMsg, but the template never renders errorMsg. If the first fetch fails, hasFetched stays false and the placeholder comes back with no explanation. If a reload fails, the old stats stay on screen and nothing tells the user they are stale. Render errorMsg near the analytics header.
