📝 Walkthrough
Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to The new syllabus modal lets profile owners mark chapters complete. Two cases can show progress that differs from what was saved: a failed network request, or clicking the same chapter twice quickly. Keyboard users also cannot expand subjects to reach the chapter controls. These issues should be fixed before merge. Security Architecture Review

Block another toggle while this chapter’s request is pending.
If the owner activates a chapter twice before the first POST settles, this handler sends two requests to a server endpoint that toggles the record rather than setting a requested value. Inertia visits can be canceled, but cancellation does not establish that the server did not process the first toggle. The displayed state can therefore diverge from the saved state. Track pending chapter IDs and reconcile each chapter before accepting another activation. (inertiajs.com)

Reconcile progress after non-validation request failures.
If the POST fails because of a network interruption or HTTP exception, onError does not run. The optimistic chapter, subject, and overall progress can remain visible even though the update did not complete. Handle Inertia’s onNetworkError and onHttpException paths and restore or reload the affected progress. Inertia documents these callbacks separately from validation onError. (inertiajs.com)
Based on learnings, an optimistic update needs rollback when its backend call fails.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Make subject expansion keyboard-accessible.
If a user navigates by keyboard, this clickable div cannot receive focus or open a subject. The user cannot reach any chapter controls until the subject opens. Use a button for the subject header, and expose its expanded state.
