feat: reflect readonly/disabled at ion-textarea #30911

Closed

Description

@KillerCodeMonkey

Prerequisites

Describe the Feature Request

Currently readonly and disabled props of ion-textareas are not reflected at the host element like they are for ion-inputs.

This is inconsistent and makes it hard to select readonly/disabled textareas (css, query).

Describe the Use Case

Style all disabled/readonly ion-textarea (not only the native textarea elements.

Disabled ones have a special predefined css class by ionic, but readonly not.

Describe Preferred Solution

just reflect those properties at the host element

    Thank you for the feature request!!

    @KillerCodeMonkey Could you elaborate of the need to reflect the disabled prop when you can target textarea with the disabled class: .textarea-disabled?

    ion-textarea.textarea-disabled {
        background: red;
    }

    @thetaPC in general in our case we only need the readonly prop.
    but for consistency why not reflect the same props as for inputs?.

    Maybe in a future version there is than no need for ionic to have those additional css classes, when you could have styled it by the native attributes.
    It would be more straight forward and easier to "learn" :)
