This PR contains the following updates:

Package Change Age Confidence
org.commonmark:commonmark 0.24.0 → 0.32.0 age confidence

Release Notes

commonmark/commonmark-java (org.commonmark:commonmark)

v0.32.0

Added
  • Scanner API for extensions now has findPrev methods to search backwards,
which can be useful for some syntax (#466)
Changed
  • Fix Android incompatibility with minSdk < 30: The minSdk required is now 24.
Fixed
  • Allow consecutive question marks in inline processing instructions (#471)
  • Allow HTML declarations with lowercase letters and without whitespace (#469)
  • Reject link reference definitions with unbalanced parentheses in the destination (#470)
  • Don't let lists interrupt a paragraph with only link reference definitions (#472)
  • MarkdownRenderer: Preserve literal ampersands in links and images (#468)

v0.31.0

Changed
  • To get link text in LinkProcessor, Scanner needs to be passed to
    LinkInfo#text now
Fixed
  • Correctly parse unclosed titles for link reference definitions, fix source
    spans in resulting paragraph (#460)
  • Keep partially consumed tab when an HTML block starts or continues in a block quote (#462)
  • Make list loose for blank line after HTML block or indented code (#463)
  • Allow info string of fenced code to start with the other fence character (#464)
  • Fix quadratic runtime for a large number of lines in a single paragraph
starting with potential block opening characters
  • Fix quadratic runtime for parsing deeply nested image brackets

v0.30.1

Changed
  • Improve MarkdownRenderer performance by appending unescaped spans in bulk (#456)
Fixed
  • Fix parsing code spans after an unclosed backtick string; a regression that
was introduced in the previous version (0.30.0) (#459)

v0.30.0

Added
  • New option lineSeparator for MarkdownRenderer.Builder to change the default line
    separator from \n (e.g. to \r\n) (#442)
  • YAML front matter extension: Support extracting the raw YAML content so that you can
do the YAML parsing using a library (instead of the limited built-in parsing) (#391)
Changed
  • Tables extension: Limit max number of parsed table cells by default (1 million cells),
see option maxCells in TablesExtension.Builder. Parsing will throw an error if the
limit would be exceeded, to protect against malicious input.
  • The default for maxOpenBlockParsers for Parser.Builder is now 100; configure the
    option to remove the limit.
  • Limit how deeply inline nodes may nest by default (100), see option maxInlineNesting in
Parser.Builder; configure the option to remove the limit. This covers emphasis-like
delimiters (e.g. * or the ins extension's +) as well as images, which can otherwise
nest arbitrarily deep for a small amount of input. Anything over the limit is treated as
    plain text instead.
Fixed
  • Fix quadratic runtime on various pathological inputs (where inline syntax to start a
node is used repeatedly but never finished):
    • Inline HTML like "x <!--".repeat(100_000) (#447)
    • Autolink starts like "<".repeat(100_000)
    • Emphasis like "a**b" + "c* ".repeat(100_000)
    • Backticks runs of different lengths
  • Fix stack overflow errors when parsing pathological inputs with repeated syntax:
    • HTML block attributes
    • Autolink email addresses
    • Deeply nested emphasis
  • Fix stack overflow error when rendering/visiting deeply nested inline nodes, by capping nesting
depth during parsing (see maxInlineNesting above). This can happen with emphasis, e.g.
    "*".repeat(n) + "x" + "*".repeat(n) or "*a ".repeat(n) + " b*".repeat(n), as well as with
    images, e.g. "![".repeat(n) + "x" + "](u)".repeat(n)
  • YAML front matter extension: Fix inefficient string concatenation for literal-block values (|)

v0.29.0

Added
  • Support rendering GFM task list items to Markdown (#433)
  • Support rendering YAML front matter to Markdown (#434)
  • Alerts
    • Allow customizing HTML attributes for alert title <p> tag via AttributeProvider (#427)
    • New configuration for AlertsExtension to allow authors to provide custom
      titles per alert. See the
custom titles section of the alerts README
      for more information. (#430)
    • New configuration for AlertsExtension to allow alerts to be nested within
other blocks (including other alerts). See
this section of the alerts README
      for more information. (#430)
    • New configuration for AlertsExtension to allow the set of alert types
(including standard GFM types) to be completely overwritten. (#435)
      var extension = AlertsExtension.builder()
              .setAllowedTypes(Map.ofEntries(
                      Map.entry("IMPORTANT", "Important"),
                      Map.entry("WARNING", "Warning")
                      Map.entry("BUG", "Known Bug")
              ))
              .build();
    • Support rendering alerts to text (#437)

v0.28.0

Added
  • New extension for alerts (aka callouts/admonitions)
    • Syntax:
      > [!NOTE]
      > The text of the note.
    • As types you can use NOTE, TIP, IMPORTANT, WARNING, CAUTION; or configure the
      extension to add additional ones.
    • Use class AlertsExtension in artifact commonmark-ext-gfm-alerts (#420)
  • New option maxOpenBlockParsers for Parser.Builder to set an overall limit
for the depth of block parsing. If set, any nesting beyond the limit will be
parsed as paragraph text instead. The default remains unlimited.

v0.27.1

Fixed
  • Line(s) after a hard line break would sometimes also get an unwanted hard
line break, e.g. if they ended in emphasis or other non-text inlines (#415)
  • TextContentRenderer (for plain text): Fix nested lists on the same line (#413)
  • Fix minor performance regression with pathological input (deeply nested
brackets) that was introduced in version 0.23.0.

v0.27.0

Added
  • Autolink extension: Now supports configuration of different link types that
should be recognized and converted to links. See AutolinkExtension#builder

    Type Default? Description
URL Yes URL with a protocol such as https://example.com
EMAIL Yes Email address such as foo@example.com
WWW Yes Address beginning with www such as www.example.com

Note that this changes the behavior of AutolinkExtension.create() to now also
include WWW links by default. To re-enable the previous behavior, use:

    AutolinkExtension.builder().linkTypes(AutolinkType.URL, AutolinkType.EMAIL).build();

v0.26.0

Changed
  • A LinkProcessor using replaceWith now also stops outer links from being
parsed as links, same as with wrapTextIn. This prevents nested links, see
    footnotes change below.
Fixed
  • Fix rendering of image alt text to include contents of code spans (`code`). (#398)
  • footnotes: Fix footnotes nested within links. Before, both the link and the
footnote reference would be parsed and lead to nested <a> elements, which
is disallowed. Now, only the footnote is parsed and the outer link becomes
plain text; this matches the behavior of links. (#400)

v0.25.1

Fixed
  • footnotes: Fix parsing of footnote definitions containing multiple paragraphs
separated by blank lines. Before it only worked if paragraphs were separated
by lines of 4 spaces. (#388)

v0.25.0

Added
  • Include OSGi metadata in jars (META-INF/MANIFEST.MF files) (#378)
  • More documentation with examples for Node classes (#370)
Changed
  • GitHub tables: Tables are now parsed even if there's no blank line before the
table heading, matching GitHub's behavior. (#381)
Fixed
  • MarkdownRenderer: Fix precedence for nodeRendererFactory: Factories passed
to the builder can now override rendering for core node types. (#368)
  • MarkdownRenderer: Fix exception with ordered lists with a long first number
followed by a shorter one (#382)
  • Fix warning in Eclipse about "missing 'requires transitive'" (#358)
  • Fix Android incompatibility with requireNonNullElseGet (#369)
