Problem

Ten CheerpJ docs pages have no description of their own, so their <meta name="description"> falls back to the product's (packages/astro-theme/lib/products.ts):

Run Java 8, 11 and 17 applications, libraries, applets, Java Web Start, and Oracle Forms on the web without legacy plugins.

It leaves out Java 21 and 25, and it's the summary that search results and agents see for those pages. The pages are the FAQ, changelog, licensing, migration guide and copyright notices, plus the five section index pages (Getting started, Guides, Reference, Tutorials, Explanation). After #505 the description also feeds llms.txt.

Change

  • The fallback itself: "Run Java applications, applets, Java Web Start, Oracle Forms and libraries in the browser, from unmodified JARs, with no plug-in or local Java installation." It names no Java versions, so it can't go out of date again. The section index pages, which never have a description, now show this.
  • Five pages get a description of what they're for: FAQ, migration from CheerpJ 2, changelog, licensing, copyright notices. As on the other docs pages, the description also appears under the page title.

The product description is also used by ProductHome.astro on labs.leaningtech.com's CheerpJ product page, which picks up the new text.

Checked

  • pnpm run build in sites/cheerpj: the five pages carry their new meta descriptions, and the section pages carry the new fallback.
  • No built docs page still has the old text in its metadata. The one remaining "Java 8, 11 and 17" is in cheerpjInit's body, where it's correct ("Earlier versions support Java 8, 11 and 17").

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Pages without a description fell back to the product's, which named only
Java 8, 11 and 17. The fallback now names no versions, and the FAQ,
migration guide, changelog, licensing and copyright notices get their own.
