[WEB-7851] feat: dashboards and dashboard widgets on the v2 client - #61
Dashboard rows come back as LoadedDashboard, so dashboard.widgets.* needs no ids repeated. A loaded workspace reaches workspace.dashboards.
Every method that takes fields narrows its return type, like the rest of v2.
chart({ page, column_page, row_ids }): row_ids is sent as the JSON array the API expects. charts({ widget_ids }) resolves to one entry per widget with its own status and either chart or error.
Two chart-type unions: WidgetChartType (the 20 the API creates, for request bodies) and StoredWidgetChartType (adds the older stored types, for reads).
Generated constants
src/api/v2/generated/constants.ts is regenerated from the golden this SDK was built on (plane-ee a8a1a9f43be, which reproduces the current file exactly), plus only paths/dashboards.json and the 17 schemas it references. The diff is additions only, all dashboards_* / widgets_*. A regen from today's golden would pull in a large unrelated diff, including renamed operations, so that's left for its own PR. The types-bundle snapshot is regenerated; every added line is a Dashboard or Widget export.
Behaviour worth knowing
Read types follow what the server stores: last_used_filter, x_axis_date_grouping, y_axis_metric are string | null, Dashboard.access is number (older rows can carry the retired 2); the chart-type union notes the server can add types. Request types keep the literal unions.
pql_filters is { stripped } (json optional editor state; no raw). Charts read filters or pql_filters.stripped per last_used_filter, never rich_filters; sending only pql_filters (create or update) switches last_used_filter to pql_filters.
charts() never fails for one widget (each carries its own status and an error of {type, code, detail, errors?}), charts at most 50 widgets per call, and resolves [] without a request for widget_ids: []. row_ids takes the table's null row; with row_ids, only the column_* paging fields are meaningful.
access changes need the owner (or a workspace admin on a public dashboard) only when the value changes; a dashboard hidden from the caller is 404, a visible one the role doesn't allow is 403.
Unit: 1010 passed, 0 failed, including 19 tests in tests/unit/v2/dashboards.test.ts.
An independent review of the PR against the server code; its findings are fixed and the review threads resolved.
Live, against a local plane-ee API on the #7936 branch, at the first commit: tests/e2e/v2/dashboards.e2e.test.ts 5/5, and the full live v2 suite fails only the same 3 environment tests as main. Not re-run since the follow-up commits, which change types, docs, the empty-widget_ids short circuit and e2e cleanup only.
Depends on
makeplane/plane-ee#7936. widget-types/ and widgets/charts/ must be on the server before this merges.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added v2 workspace dashboard support, including dashboard creation, retrieval, updates, deletion, copying, and listing.
Added widget management, including listing, filtering, sorting, and access to individual or batched chart data.
Added supported widget-type information and per-widget chart results.
Added access to dashboards from workspace resources.
Documentation
Added guidance for working with v2 dashboards and widgets, including configuration and chart responses.
Updated the documented API resource count from 90 to 92.
Adds client.v2.workspaces.dashboards and its .widgets child for the new
/api/v2/workspaces/{slug}/dashboards/ endpoints.
- Dashboards: list, iterate, retrieve, create, update, delete, copy and
widgetTypes. Rows come back as LoadedDashboard, which reaches
dashboard.widgets with no ids repeated; a loaded workspace reaches
workspace.dashboards. Every fields-taking method narrows its return type.
- Widgets: CRUD plus chart() (page, column_page, row_ids) and charts()
(every widget's first page in one call, per-widget status/error).
- Models: Dashboard, Widget, their create/update/copy bodies, chart types,
chart models, WidgetChart and WidgetChartResult.
- Generated constants regenerated from the golden the SDK was built on
(plane-ee a8a1a9f43be) plus only the dashboards paths; additions only.
- Unit tests (nock), a live e2e suite, and the types-bundle snapshot.
No actionable comments were generated in the recent review.
Walkthrough
The v2 SDK adds dashboard and widget models and API resources. Workspace navigation exposes dashboards, and dashboard navigation exposes widgets. The changes include dashboard and widget operations, chart retrieval, documentation, and unit and end-to-end tests.

…ds, filter docs
- charts({ widget_ids: [] }) resolves to [] without a request; `?widget_ids=`
used to chart every widget.
- Widget read model: last_used_filter, x_axis_date_grouping and y_axis_metric
are string | null (the server stores free text, "" included). Create/update
bodies keep the literal unions.
- TSDoc: charts() fails per widget for 400/402 but still rejects for errors
about the dashboard itself; charts never read rich_filters; last_used_filter
defaults to rich_filters and a pql-only create switches to pql_filters;
changing a dashboard's access needs its owner; UpdateWidget takes null to
clear the axis fields; the chart field is `schema` (Python: chart_schema).
- Unit tests: empty widget_ids, pql-only widget create, null-clearing update,
table paging with page/column_page.
- Types-bundle snapshot updated for the Widget shape change.
Cover the PQL-only create default in live tests, and rename the unit test to match its assertions.
The unit test at tests/unit/v2/dashboards.test.ts:176-195 sets last_used_filter: "pql_filters" in the request body. Its assertion checks the value that the nock reply echoes. A mocked test cannot detect the server-side default that stores pql_filters when only PQL filters are sent. Add that case to the live suite. Live coverage currently has no PQL create test.
The test title says the widget "charts with its PQL", but the test never calls chart(). Rename it to describe the assertions it makes.
Rename the unit test
- it("creates a PQL-filtered widget that charts with its PQL", async () => {+ it("creates a PQL-filtered widget and echoes last_used_filter", async () => {

Rename the PQL-filtered unit test to describe its assertions: it verifies
creation and the echoed last_used_filter, not charting. In the live suite, add a
capability-gated create case that sends PQL filters without last_used_filter and
verifies the returned widget defaults it to pql_filters; use the existing
withDashboard flow and confirm the created widget can be charted.
268-271: Trivial · Functional Correctness · Low value
Assert the table chart rows in the paging test.
The test pages a table chart by rows and columns without sending row_ids does not check chart.data. widgets.chart() returns the response unchanged, so a response that dropped data would still pass.

columns without sending row_ids,” verifying it contains the expected table row
with its group_by_id and cells. Keep the existing pagination and request
assertions unchanged.

- e2e: dashboard cleanup logs a failed delete instead of swallowing it, like the project cleanup
- WidgetChartResult.status: 200 or the error status (400, 402, 500, ...)
- StoredWidgetChartType: note the list can grow on the server; handle an unknown value
- Dashboard.access reads as number (older rows can carry the retired 2); writes keep 0 | 1
- row_ids takes the table's null row ((string | null)[]); documents that row paging fields only
echo the request when row_ids is sent
- WidgetChartResult.error is the server's actual problem shape (type, code, detail, errors)
- DashboardPqlFilters: send stripped (json optional); raw is gone, nothing on the server reads it
- the pql-only auto-switch happens on update too, and can turn a rich-filter widget's filters off
- 404 vs 403 described accurately; access default, admin rule and member removal on going public;
copy copies older dashboards as stored; charts() documents the 50-widget cap
- e2e cleanup no longer warns after a test deletes its own dashboard
- tests: null row in row_ids, row_ids [], chart error rejects with PlaneApiError, charts() with no
widget_ids, widgets.iterate
