-
Explanation
The title "STF-2006: Add email verification inputs" matches the main change. The PR adds the verification_time and was_verification_successful attributes to Minfraud::Components::Email, and the title names that change. The ticket prefix is acceptable and does not make the title vague, though the title does not mention the related README, changelog, or spec updates, which is expected.

Add the verification_time and was_verification_successful attributes to Email. They describe the most recent verification of the email address. With validation on, the result must be a boolean and the time must be an RFC 3339 date-time. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The Email verification specs were copies of the phone specs in the addressable shared examples, with only the phone_ prefix removed. Move them into one shared example that takes the field prefix, and use it for Billing, Shipping, and Email. The phone specs now also check a non-boolean result and a boolean time. The phone specs still send phone_verification_method with the other valid values, and a separate spec checks that phone_verification_method is sent as a string. Nit: These boolean checks repeat the tables in spec/components/base_spec.rb ('boolean inputs' and 'booleans with validation'), and they are weaker.
This example checks only for InvalidInputError, and only for true. If validate_rfc3339 stopped calling validate_not_boolean, the example would still pass, because "true" also fails the RFC 3339 regex. The base_spec table checks /must not be a boolean/ for both true and false.
Suggest: add Email#verification_time and Email#was_verification_successful to the base_spec tables, or match the error message here. The phone verification fields are also missing from those tables.

Fixed in 58d0b12. The example now matches /must not be a boolean/, so it fails if validate_rfc3339 stops calling validate_not_boolean.

There was a problem hiding this comment.
Nit: The removed to_json test passed phone_verification_method as the String 'network'. This test passes only the Symbol :network, so no Billing or Shipping spec sends a String value now.
If the String-to-Symbol conversion broke for this attribute, for example because Addressable assigned @phone_verification_method directly, no component spec would catch it. Only the generic enum_spec test would remain.
Suggest: pass 'network' here, or test both forms.

Nit: other_valid has one caller (phone_verification_method: :delivered_code in spec/support/addressable_examples.rb lines 26-27), and it adds no coverage. The enum setter checks the value whether validation is on or off, and 'accepts each phone_verification_method value' already covers :delivered_code.
Suggest: remove the parameter, the **other_valid splat, and its line in the header comment.

There was a problem hiding this comment.
Nit: time_field and successful_field are let values, so the example descriptions build the same names again with "#{prefix}verification_time" and "#{prefix}was_verification_successful". Each name is built in two places, so a change to one can make a description name a different field than the one the example tests.
Suggest block-local variables, such as time_field = :"#{prefix}verification_time". They work in both the descriptions and the example bodies.

We will keep the let values. RuboCop rejects block-local variables that the examples use (RSpec/LeakyLocalVariable).

Nit: in this example, verification_time (2026-10-01) is 14 years after the example event time (2012-04-12, line 93). The "most recent verification" then comes after the transaction that it describes.
The phone_verification_time values (lines 119 and 136) have the same problem. They are not new in this PR.
Suggested fix: use a verification time before the event time, or move the event time to a recent date.

Fixed in 6a19605. The example event time is now 2026-10-05, after every verification time. This also fixes the phone examples.
| # @return [Boolean, nil] | ||

There was a problem hiding this comment.
Nit: the email and phone time docs now use different wording. This says "the most recent attempt to verify the email address, if known". phone_verification_time in lib/minfraud/components/addressable.rb (line 96) says "the most recent verification of the phone number". The changelog bullets (lines 8-9 and 11-12) also say "most recent verification".
The two inputs have the same meaning: the time also applies when was_verification_successful is false. The "attempt" wording here is more accurate, and it matches the dev-site text. The phone attributes are also unreleased (v2.11.0), so the phone doc and the changelog can use the same wording now.

Given it's about phone, we can leave it
The shared Billing and Shipping spec sent only a Symbol, so no spec covered the conversion from a String. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The phone_verification_method value it sent added no coverage. The enum setter checks the value whether validation is on or off. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A boolean also fails the RFC 3339 check, so the example passed even without the boolean check. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The example event time was years before the example verification times, so the most recent verification came after the event. The web service also ignores an event time older than one year. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Adds
verification_timeandwas_verification_successfultoMinfraud::Components::Email. They describe the most recent verification of the email address. When validation is enabled, the result must be a boolean and the time an RFC 3339 date-time.A second commit makes the phone and email verification specs share one example group.
The changelog bullet is in the unreleased v2.11.0 section, with the phone inputs.
