Description

Hello,

I just switched from windows 10 to windows 11. I needed to reinstall Python and VS Code (With python extension). After all reinstalled, i just couldn't choose an interpreter and run a python file. In other words, when i try to click on the run button or type Ctrl-Shift-p then >python run python file in Terminal, nothing happen, no report on the Output panel. I am aware that this is not the first topic about a kind of issue like this. i already made my own research, tried the several answer about this.

Type: Bug
Here is the way I experience this issue :

  • Download the python extension
  • Open a python file
  • Can't launch python file
  • Ctrl-Shift-P > Python Select intepreter with the path of python exe
  • Try to launch python file
  • Can't launch python file

Hi! Do you see anything in logs when you try clicking the run button? Also does it consistently repro or if you reload the window or switch back and forth with another file do you no longer see the bug?

    Hello,

    I finaly resolved my issue.

i think it was coming from the PATH variable contained ~%APPDATA%\Local\Programs\Python\Launcher, I added the direct link to the python version : ~%APPDATA%\Local\Programs\Python\PythonXXX

Then it started to work fine.

When the bug was the occuring, it wasn't possible to launch python files except launching the python command on the builtin terminal of VS Code (no debugging or launch python file command or button).

I saw the bug occuring on differnet python file in different location on my HDD or on cloud (onedrive)
