I'm willing to bet your issue is caused by https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=GitHub.copilot-chat , not a Python extension.
Try disabling that extension if its installed.
That being said, if it is the issue, Microsoft execs are still the ones responsible for auto-installing and shoving it in your face.
