dev deps: not a bug, but do not suggest "mypy" when I have "ty" #26116
In my pyproject.toml, I use
dev = [
# REQ.DEV.DEPS: External packages used for linting, testing, type checking, etc.
"pre-commit", # WHY: Pre-commit hooks for consistent formatting and linting.
"pytest", # WHY: Test framework for unit and integration tests.
"pytest-cov", # WHY: Test coverage reporting for quality metrics and CI gating.
"ruff", # WHY: Fast linting and formatting for Python code.
"ty", # WHY: Type checking for static analysis and type safety.
]
and it wants to suggest "mypy" instead of the new "ty". Please don't suggest going backwards for me and my students. Thank you.

🤖 Thanks for the context. Could you share a screenshot of the mypy suggestion and say where it appears, including whether hovering it identifies the extension that provides it? That will let us determine which component should recognize the existing ty dependency. Issues marked info-needed automatically close after 30 days without a reply.
I think it's gotten used to ty now - I'm on an updated version and I don't get that recommending mypy behavior anymore. Looks like it's already fixed. Thank you - excellent cross-platform editor. :)
