Molejo Testkit is an experimental pre-release project. It has no supported or production-ready release. Security fixes are applied to the default branch on a best-effort basis.
Testkit is a deterministic test fixture. It is not an authenticated application, an authorization service, or a production backend. Deploy it only where a test workload is appropriate and remove disposable environments after validation.
The public HTTP server intentionally does not expose the outbound network probe. The probe is an explicit container command intended for controlled Jobs and local diagnostics. Anyone able to execute that command receives the network identity of the container or Pod, so access to workload creation and execution remains a cluster security boundary.
Configured peer monitoring keeps the same boundary. Destinations come only from
the read-only file selected by TESTKIT_PEERS_FILE; public HTTP requests cannot
add, replace, or trigger destinations. Peer checks ignore proxy environment
variables, reject redirects, validate HTTPS certificates, and return only
sanitized, non-cacheable in-memory state. Treat write access to the peer file as
equivalent to permission to originate network traffic from the Testkit workload.
The optional persistence endpoint is also unauthenticated and must be enabled
only in disposable test workloads. Its file path is fixed at process startup by
TESTKIT_PERSISTENCE_FILE; requests cannot choose paths. Responses expose only
size and SHA-256 metadata, but anyone who can reach the endpoint can replace the
marker. Do not store credentials or other sensitive values in it.
PostgreSQL diagnostics change the trust boundary and are disabled by default.
Enabling them requires a deployment token from a read-only file and a read-only
host/CIDR and port policy. Requests without valid authorization, from a foreign
browser origin, or outside the policy are rejected before network access. The
server resolves A/AAAA addresses for every attempt. Loopback requires an exact
host and port rule and cannot be enabled by CIDR; link-local, multicast and
unspecified addresses remain forbidden. The server dials only a validated
address while retaining the original hostname for TLS verification.
Assets at risk are typed database credentials, the workload network identity,
reachable services, discovered metadata, and process availability. Required
deployment controls are HTTPS, no direct target bypass, exact egress policy,
verify-full TLS by default, and aggregate limits when multiple replicas run.
The API uses fixed operations, strict and bounded data, deadlines, same-origin
requests, framing protection, and no credential store. Logs and responses never
include a DSN, password, CA body, SQL text, discovered address, or raw driver
error. The token authorizes an installation, not an individual, and offers no
RBAC or protection from administrators controlling the process or mounted files.
Remove disposable diagnostic workloads after use.
GitHub private vulnerability reporting is not enabled for this repository yet. Until a private reporting channel is available, contact the maintainers through the Molejo Platform organization profile to request a private channel without including vulnerability details in the initial message. Do not disclose the vulnerability in a public issue, discussion, pull request, or test log.
Include, when possible:
- the affected revision and component;
- steps to reproduce or a minimal proof of concept;
- the expected security impact;
- relevant deployment assumptions;
- any known mitigation.
The maintainers will acknowledge and assess reports as capacity permits. Because the project is pre-release, no response or remediation service-level agreement is currently provided.
Allow the maintainers a reasonable opportunity to investigate and prepare a fix before public disclosure. Credit will be coordinated with the reporter when appropriate and desired.
