Auto-Boost-Essential.py BEWARE, DATA LOSS when using -t, --temp

my os ssd 500GB and storage hdd 2TB are btrfs

svt-av1-essential-git, vapoursynth-plugin-vsjetpack-git via paru
vapoursynth-plugin-vship-vulkan, vapoursynth and ffms2 via CachyOS Package Installer

./Auto-Boost-Essential.py -u --ssimu2 gpu --verbose --quality high -i '/run/media/space/Storage/x/x x/x.mkv' -t /run/media/space/Storage/

It was running without verbose for about 5mins and errored, didn't grab the error. Only to find it wiped the Storage folder... the root of my storage drive, that contained the video 🤬. Guess i was used to windows and or apps not immediately deleting(lots ask to delete anything) temp folders/files after use. ☹️

So yeah it wiped my storage drive (unmounted it for now) so my new backups are gone and with the drive being btrfs now i have to find out how to restore files if i can 😢.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, you told it to use that path as the TEMPORARY folder. When the script exited, it cleared out the temp folder you specified.

I would suggest just letting it use the default temp folder locations.

Hello, I'm sorry this happened to you. To prevent it from happening again, I will be adding more checks before deletion in a future commit when I find some time.

Note that by definition, a temp(orary) folder, like its name implies, is not meant to last. That is to say it should not be a critical filepath.
I generally recommend not setting --temp so that the script handles its working files optimally. The reason of existence of the --temp parameter is to provide your own path in a place that's different from where the input video is located. That path must be empty, because it's temporary.
