Cannot sync, download or export json, XML or HTML files #17187
Create a folder (I did this via the web interface) of various file types. I have files ending with .json, .xml, .html, .zip, .aac, .mp3, .dB, .aes, etc...
In the Android Nextcloud client request a sync of the folder containing these files. The three file types .json, .xml, .html will not be sync'd, all others sync fine
If I request a download of a specific file it does not download
If I export a specific file all I get is a 0-byte file with the correct name in the Downloads folder
If I use the web interface via my browser I can download these file types.
Expected behaviour
All file types should download.
Actual behaviour
Only files without .json, .xml, .html extensions will sync.

I have an older Samsung S9 (Android 10) with the same Nextcloud Android client version which has the same issue, but did not have this issue with version 33.1.2.
[edit] The same issue happens with my Samsung tablet (Android 12).
Attached are two HTML files to test. One can sync (test_OK.html) and one cannot sync (test_NOK.html). The only difference is an html tag (<button data="sample>sample</button>).
To complete, the file that can be synchronized can also be downloaded to the phone with the download button. The file that is not synchronized is downloaded but empty, 0 bytes.
By renaming the test_NOK.html file to a test_NOK.html.txt text file, same, the synchronization and download do not work.

@dschultzca
Hello
Could you try with last generated QA APK?
dschultzca commentedon Jun 16, 2026
The QA version does resolve the issue for me on Android 16, I did not try the other versions I reported.
