For many weeks now, the RSS feed repeatedly reports a bunch of old items as new, presumably when a new post is published.
Some exploration, context, references:
PR #1780 fixed an issue early last year regarding the filename inferred date sorting.
What changed?
Looking into recent config changes, #2075 dropped plugin references from the config, presumably fixing redundant declarations. Could that be the issue, causing the plugin configuration from the site rather than theme no longer being applied?
I just added the Nushell blog to my feed and can confirm the same. You can see it affecting both the RSS feed and the Atom feed. Notably, none of the blog posts (e.g. 2026-07-11-nushell_v0_114_1.md) have a date frontmatter field that the vuepress feed plugin scrapes. It'd be pretty straightforward to run though the existing blog posts and update their frontmatter using the date of their most recent commit, although future blog posts would need to specify date manually. You could also set up scraping the commit date as a build step with getter.publishDate. Happy to open a PR if there are no objections to this method.

I don't get any old items as new in feedly.

Feedbro
The feed has a pubDate and a lastBuildDate. Items have a guid (URL), but no date.
Does your feed reader not show updated items previously marked as read, by any chance?

Feedly has a default filter of Unread. After you've read it, it doesn't come back as unread.
