There was a problem hiding this comment.
Gap (confidence: medium): this only invalidates when listed is Some. A failed re-list sets listed = None (line 957) but leaves list and c from the previous successful listing. After that, editing the address no longer clears the old tables, and c can still be sent as layer against a different database. Keying the check on !list.is_empty() || !c.is_empty() or clearing list/c in the Err arm would close it.
Also, database(&app.dialogs.a) is computed three times per frame. Reusing typed from line 896 would be cheaper, but it is stale after the text edit, so a fresh call is correct here.

Agreed, this was a real gap. A failed re-list cleared listed but left list and c, so the mismatch check here no longer ran on a later address edit. The Err arm now clears list and c as well. The regression test is add_database_failed_relist_drops_the_old_tables in smoke.rs, which seeds a listed table and chosen table, re-lists against a refused loopback port, and asserts both are cleared. Fixed in the rebased b393237 (originally a84070a).
I left the repeated database(&app.dialogs.a) call as is: it is cheap, and a fresh call after the text edit is the correct one, since the earlier typed value would be stale.
Code reviewThe change is small and consistent with the repo rules: no Bugs

Two concerns (medium-low confidence): (1) fill runs from dialog every frame the saved record differs from synced, and it overwrites whatever the user typed in the form (and clears typed key/secret) with no notice. If any in-dialog flow updates the saved record (e.g. renaming or re-saving the picked connection) without also setting synced, the form gets refilled underneath the user. Please confirm every such path updates synced. (2) After a refill, a live session under the old settings is not reconnected, and connected/error are cleared. That is probably intended, but the behaviour is only implicit.

Thanks. Both points are by design, so no code change:
syncrefills once per change to the saved record, not every frame: after a refillsyncedholds the new definition, so the next frame compares equal. Typing in the form never triggers it, because typing does not save anything. The in-dialog paths that create or select a record (Save as Connection viakeep, and picking a connection) change the connection id, sosynconly records the new definition and does not refill. The keys case opens the separate Edit Connection dialog, which replaces the S3 dialog. The only trigger is an edit or removal made elsewhere (for example in Data Sources), which is what the fix is for. The unit testediting_or_removing_the_picked_connection_refills_the_form_and_drops_its_listingcovers unchanged, edited and removed.- Intended.
connection.editalready ends the old S3 session in the engine. Reconnecting on its own with the new settings, and possibly stale keys, would be the automatic login we avoid, so the user connects again explicitly with Connect.
Code reviewThe PR clears stale dialog state when an address or saved connection changes: Add From Database, STAC Search and S3 Buckets. I found no definite bugs. I read the diff and the surrounding code in Bugs

I've read the whole diff and checked the surrounding code in Code reviewI reviewed all 5 changed files. I couldn't build or run anything here, so none of the new tests were run. The PR keeps dialog state tied to the address or saved connection it came from:

…anges
Add From Database keeps its table list and chosen table only while the
address they were listed for is unchanged. STAC clears its collections,
items and chosen collection when another API is picked or typed. The S3
form selects the connection kept after a blank-name connect ("default").
Refs opengeos#699 (requirements 7 and 10).
…ted or removed connection.edit changes an S3 connection's address or options and ends its session, but the form kept the old endpoint, still read as the selected connection and kept the old bucket listing. The dialog now compares the form's connection with its saved definition: an edit refills the form and drops what was listed; a removal lets the connection go. Refs opengeos#699 (requirements 7 and 10).
A failed re-list cleared only the address it was tied to, so the earlier table list and chosen table survived a later address edit and could be sent against another database. Found in review of the stale-listing change. Refs opengeos#699 (requirements 7 and 10).
…hanges Picking or typing another API cleared what was shown but left a pending collections, search or children request and a static catalog's walk, whose answers then landed under the new API. They are dropped now; an asset being signed or a link being opened goes on. Found in review. Refs opengeos#699 (requirements 7 and 10).
An API change now also forgets the address Save as Connection would keep and the last listing's status, and a static catalog picked while a listing was pending is browsed at once. Found in review. Refs opengeos#699 (requirements 7 and 10).
Covers the review fix that rechecks pending work after an API switch. Refs opengeos#699.

If an
Asked::Linkrequest remains pending during an API switch,drop_listingretains it. When the link returns a STAC item,landed_linkcan replacest.apiandst.itemswith values from the old link. The dialog then returns to the previous API despite the user’s selection. Preserve the requested add, but prevent its late answer from updating the dialog after an API switch. The new test checks that the request survives, not what happens when its answer lands.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Summary
Delivery 4 of #699 (requirements 7 and 10), follow-up to #711. Ref: #699 (comment)
#711 already put a saved-connection picker and Save as Connection in Add From Service, Add From Database, STAC and S3. I audited it against the requirements and found three places where state tied to an old endpoint survived:
Add From Database: the table list and chosen table survived a hand edit of the address, so Add could send a table name from database A to database B. They are now dropped as soon as the address no longer matches what was listed, and also when a listing fails (a failed re-list would otherwise leave tables that the address check can no longer see).
STAC: picking another API or typing one kept the old API's items and the selected collection (collections and items were only partly cleared). All three are cleared now. A collections, search or children request still in flight and a static-catalog walk are dropped too, so a late answer from the old API can't land under the new one; asset signing and opening a link go on. Covered by the unit test
a_late_answer_from_the_previous_api_is_dropped.S3: connecting with a blank Name registers
default, but the form compared the saved connection against the blank field, so after Save as Connection it showed "Pick one…" and "Rename it to save it". It now selects the kept connection.S3, edited or removed definitions:
connection.editchanges an S3 connection's address/options and ends its session, but the form kept the old endpoint, still read as the selected connection (so it could not be re-picked) and kept the old bucket listing. The dialog now compares the form's connection with its saved definition (s3ui::sync): an edit refills the form and drops what was listed, a removal lets the connection go. Covered by the unit testediting_or_removing_the_picked_connection_refills_the_form_and_drops_its_listingins3ui.rs.Plus a short note in
docs/user-guide/web-data.md.Explicit-save decision
Open question 1 of #699: keeping a connection stays opt-in. After a successful connect/list, the dialog offers Save as Connection; nothing is saved automatically, and never a password, token or key. (Unchanged from #711; verified in the screenshots below.)
Verification

Onegpu_fastpathtest failed once under load and passed when rerun alone.crates/ui-egui/tests/smoke.rs:add_database_drops_stale_tables_when_the_address_is_edited,add_database_failed_relist_drops_the_old_tables,stac_dialog_drops_stale_collections_when_the_address_is_edited,s3_dialog_selects_the_kept_connection_after_a_blank_name_connect. Neighbouring feat(connections): pick and save connections in add dialogs #711 dialog tests still pass. I could not observe the new tests failing before the fix (the first cold build timed out), so they are written against the changed behaviour only.ui_shotPNGs of all four dialogs, from a throwaway local fixture server (WMS capabilities and STAC collections on 127.0.0.1) and sanitized connection names; no passwords, tokens or keys.
