I see, I had misunderstood what the scripts in the fixtures did and thought the tests themselves created the users. I believe the scripts in the development tools repo are structured the same way but do create the users.

I think it would probably make sense to move anything the script does that it doesn't directly need to do (ie. pass in env variables) to instead be located in the monitoring-plugin codebase. That way we can make changes in a single repo without needing to worry about synconizing between the two. @etmurasaki @jgbernalp wdyt?

I can update this PR to include those changes if you think that would be a good way to move forward

@etmurasaki

  • the scripts in fixtures creates the user in our local when running against a testing cluster, in case you don't have them
  • when running in the CI, users are created before it runs - maybe my lack of knowledge but I was not able to create them "on the fly/testing runtime" bc it replaces the IDP etc...

Per our discussion I will be adding back the "virtualization" and "coo" tags and not calling them where appropriate. We will look to update the removal of these tags either in the final PR or in a location after that

/unhold
@etmurasaki @jgbernalp I've made the updates that we discussed before. Notably the @virtualization and @coo tags have been added back and the npm commands now correctly exclude them. The @monitoring, @smoke and @demo tags have been removed. @monitoring is replaced with the combination of the @alerting @metrics @legacy-dashboards @targets

I also found some places which used coo features or virtualization but did not tag them, so I have added those tags.

As a reminder, there is a LOT of whitespace only changes due to adding tags so when you review remember to click the hide whitespace option in the files changed tab
