Enforce the documented immutability of resolvedContentHash in the schema.
The field comment says the hash is "Set once on the first successful resolution and never changed." The CRD has no matching rule. CompletedAt and the ObservedPhase fields use an oldSelf rule, but this field does not. Any client with status write access can change or clear the hash. If the hash is cleared, the controller writes a new hash from the current content on the next reconcile. That breaks the content-substitution protection this field exists for. The PR also removes the list-level immutability rule from observedPhases, which makes this field the remaining single check.
Proposed fix
// +kubebuilder:validation:XValidation:rule=`self.matches('^[a-z0-9]+:[a-f0-9]+$')`,message="digest must be in the format '<algorithm>:<hex>'"
+ // +kubebuilder:validation:XValidation:rule="self == oldSelf",message="resolvedContentHash is immutable"
ResolvedContentHash string `json:"resolvedContentHash,omitempty"`Also add a status-level rule such as !has(oldSelf.resolvedContentHash) || has(self.resolvedContentHash) so the field cannot be removed. Then regenerate the CRDs and manifests.

Verify resolvedContentHash before revisionEngine.Reconcile applies objects.
The hash check runs after revisionEngine.Reconcile at Line 224. When the hash differs, the controller has already applied the substituted content to the cluster. Only after that does it report ValidationFailure. That order does not give the protection the field is meant to provide. resolvedContentHash is available at Line 158. Move the set-or-compare block next to verifyObservedPhases, before CreateRevisionEngine. If the hash must be recorded only after a successful apply, compare it before Reconcile and assign it only after Reconcile succeeds.

If a status writer replaces an
observedPhasesentry under a newname, the map-list key changes. This field-level rule cannot compare the replacement with the removed entry, so the schema accepts a name change despite the rule. Add a parent rule that preserves previously observed names, then regenerate the schemas. Kubernetes correlates map-list entries by key when it evaluates transition rules. Move the resolved-content hash comparison before the archived-path return.
The normal path compares the hash before revisionEngine.Reconcile, so changed content does not reach object application there. The archived path returns to c.archive before this comparison. verifyObservedPhases does not cover every change: a same-length phase rename can pass because it only compares digests for names present in the stored map. The archive path can then receive the changed revision.
Place the mismatch check after verifyObservedPhases and before CreateRevisionEngine. Keep the existing set-if-empty assignment in the later block.

Description
Adds top-level resolvedContentHash to the ClusterObjectSet status to protect against content substitution.
When we compute the digests for each observedPhase in the COS status, we also write this into a buffer which contains the aggregate of all phase digests. This gives us one easy field to check for content validation.
