What problem does this PR solve?

Issue Number: close #6584

What is changed and how it works?

  • Protect table inspection APIs with authentication and keyspace validation.
  • Require authentication when querying changefeed details.
  • Respect the existing log-redaction setting when exposing DML errors, warnings, and changefeed information.
  • Prevent verify_table from performing redo storage I/O or creating directories during preflight validation. Actual changefeed creation still checks storage accessibility.
  • Parameterize downstream DDL status queries so schema names, table names, and DDL text are passed as query arguments instead of interpolated into SQL.
  • Ignore malformed block status messages instead of dereferencing incomplete fields.

Check List

Tests

  • Unit test
  • Integration test
  • Manual test (add detailed scripts or steps below)
  • No code

Questions

Will it cause performance regression or break compatibility?
Do you need to update user documentation, design documentation or monitoring documentation?

Release note

Please refer to [Release Notes Language Style Guide](https://pingcap.github.io/tidb-dev-guide/contribute-to-tidb/release-notes-style-guide.html) to write a quality release note.

If you don't think this PR needs a release note then fill it with `None`.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Security
    • Table inspection and changefeed requests now require authentication; requests without valid credentials receive an unauthorized response.
    • Changefeed error and warning messages, along with sensitive SQL argument values, are masked according to the configured redaction mode.
    • Database queries pass schema, table, and DDL values as parameters.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Table inspection requests with missing or invalid keyspaces are rejected.
    • Invalid block statuses are ignored instead of causing processing errors.
    • Table verification no longer performs redo-storage I/O during preflight checks.

📝 Walkthrough

The changes add API authentication and keyspace checks, validate barrier status requests, redact changefeed and MySQL error details, and bind values in MySQL DDL queries.

Changes: API authentication and preflight validation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Table-inspection route checks
api/v2/api.go, api/v2/api_test.go, api/v2/api_nextgen_test.go, tests/integration_tests/http_api_tls_with_user_auth/util/test_case.py
The table-inspection POST routes apply keyspace checking and authentication. Tests cover unauthenticated requests and invalid keyspaces.
Changefeed authentication and keyspace context
api/v2/changefeed.go, api/v2/changefeed_test.go, tests/integration_tests/cli_with_auth/run.sh, tests/integration_tests/cli_tls_with_auth/run.sh, tests/integration_tests/http_api_tls_with_user_auth/*
Changefeed listing establishes keyspace context and authenticates before returning results. Changefeed detail requests set context from the changefeed and authenticate before returning details. Tests check unauthorized requests and listing after keyspace removal.
VerifyTable preflight validation
api/v2/changefeed.go, api/v2/changefeed_test.go, pkg/config/consistent.go
VerifyTable disables redo I/O checks before validation. A test checks that a failed storage lookup does not create the redo directory.

Barrier status validation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Validate and process block statuses
maintainer/barrier.go, maintainer/barrier_test.go, maintainer/maintainer_manager.go, maintainer/maintainer_manager_test.go
Barrier handling rejects malformed requests and statuses before processing them. Tests cover missing payloads, nil requests, missing fields, and zero block timestamps.

Error-detail redaction

Layer / File(s) Summary
Changefeed error and warning messages
pkg/config/changefeed.go, pkg/config/changefeed_test.go, pkg/errors/reexport.go
Changefeed masking redacts non-nil error and warning messages according to the configured redaction mode. Tests cover disabled, enabled, and marker modes.
MySQL DML failure details
pkg/sink/mysql/mysql_writer_dml_exec.go, pkg/sink/mysql/mysql_writer_dml_exec_test.go
Sequence execution logs DML details with dmls.String(). Tests cover argument redaction in sequence and multi-statement execution errors.

Parameterized MySQL DDL queries

Layer / File(s) Summary
Bind values in DDL lookups and polling
pkg/sink/mysql/helper.go, pkg/sink/mysql/mysql_writer_ddl.go, pkg/sink/mysql/mysql_writer_test.go
DDL job lookups and async DDL polling pass values as SQL parameters. Tests cover schema, table, create-time, and DDL query values.

Explanation

The PR satisfies the coding requirements in issue #6584. Table inspection routes use authentication and keyspace validation. Changefeed requests set the keyspace before authentication. Changefeed errors and warnings use log redaction. MySQL DML error logging uses the redacted DML representation. Barrier handling ignores invalid requests and block statuses before dereference. Added unit, integration, and API tests cover these safeguards.

Explanation

The description explains the problem and lists the main changes, and it includes an issue reference. However, the test checklist does not identify completed tests, the compatibility and documentation questions are unanswered, and the release-note section still contains the template placeholder.

Resolution

Mark the applicable tests and provide results or detailed manual steps. Answer both questions about compatibility and documentation. Replace the release-note placeholder with a release note or None.

Explanation

The PR includes changes outside issue #6584. The MySQL downstream DDL status queries are parameterized, with related test changes. VerifyTable disables redo-storage I/O checks and adds related tests. These changes do not implement authentication, keyspace validation, sensitive-value redaction, or malformed barrier-status handling.

Resolution

Remove the unrelated DDL query and redo-storage behavior changes and their dedicated tests, or link them to a separate active issue that defines these coding requirements. Keep the DML redaction changes because they implement issue #6584.

27-73: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low value

Add a test for the RedactLogMarker mode.

Both tests cover only the disabled and enabled redaction modes. The changed code uses util.RedactArgs, which wraps values in markers in marker mode. A regression in marker-mode handling for these error paths would not be detected.

Consider adding a marker-mode case that asserts the raw value is wrapped in the redaction markers.

🟡 Minor · Forward authorization to internal changefeed lookups. · changefeed.go:551-553

api/v2/changefeed.go:551-553
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Forward authorization to internal changefeed lookups.

getChangeFeed creates a new request without an Authorization header. httputil.NewClient only configures transport security; it does not add application credentials. When ClientUserRequired is enabled, GetChangeFeed therefore returns 401. This breaks the internal ListTables and getDispatcherCount endpoints.

Suggested fix

Update getChangeFeed to forward the incoming Authorization header on its

🟡 Minor · Authenticate missing changefeed requests before returning lookup errors. · changefeed.go:547-553

api/v2/changefeed.go:547-553
🔒 Security & Privacy | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Authenticate missing changefeed requests before returning lookup errors.

When GetChangeFeed receives ErrChangeFeedNotExists, it sends the error to c.Error before calling AuthenticateRequest. ErrorHandleMiddleware maps this error to HTTP 400, while failed authentication returns HTTP 401. An unauthenticated client can therefore distinguish a missing changefeed from an existing changefeed.

Handle ErrChangeFeedNotExists with the same authentication-first path used by DeleteChangefeed.
