Include a line or two about who provides the packages used by apt on RPi OS. The links go to the Debian Wiki for "DebianRepository", and also the Raspbian project front page.

Second attempt at #4332 without breaking everything this time.

Include a line or two about who provides the packages used by `apt` on RPi OS.

We recommend using APT to keep your Raspberry Pi software up to date. You can also use APT to find a specific package or tool, inspect a package's metadata, install a specific package, and uninstall a specific package. For instructions, see <<manage-software>>.

Packages themselves come from remotely hosted *Repositories* and are built by maintainers. For most Pi devices, https://wiki.debian.org/DebianRepository[Debian] itself manages the repository; older devices (Zero, Zero W, Pi 1A / 1B / B+) use a repo provided by the https://raspbian.org[Raspbian] project instead.

Software that we develop ourself (as well as upstream packages that we modify to work better on the Raspberry Pi hardware) is also hosted in our own repository.

Note that the split between Raspbian / Debian is whether the Pi is running 32-bit Raspberry Pi OS or 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS - some people choose to run 32-bit Raspberry Pi OS even on a Pi 4B.

Ah, actually this page seems a better place to leave the info than where I placed it! I could take another shot at a better header / subsection at the top about "what is a repository" and "who owns them" but want to make sure I get the details right.

My notes on "which pi uses which repo" came from here: https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?p=2390721#p2390721 which suggested it wasn't a 32/64-bit split after all.
