Description

Prepare SDK 1.7.1 to ship the Action Recognition video work and video search merged since v1.7.0. The unreleased range is #534, #542, #519, #508 and #544.

Bump the shared package version and add the changelog entry. Both roboflow and roboflow-slim read this version. Release as a patch version.

Changelog entries:

Type of change

  • Maintenance (release preparation)

How has this change been tested, please provide a testcase or example of how you tested the change?

  • Python 3.12: python -m unittest passes 1,229 tests with one expected skip. ruff check, ruff format --check and mypy roboflow pass.
  • Built the sdist and wheel for both distributions; twine check passes all four artifacts.
  • Installed each wheel into its own clean environment. Installed metadata and roboflow.__version__ both read 1.7.1, and roboflow video --help lists upload-status and annotate.
  • Every flag, method and doc anchor named in the changelog was checked against main. The release contents were tested in their own PRs; [ar-api] Add CLI video segment annotation (VID-59) #544 passed 27/27 staging E2E cases.

Will the change affect Universe? If so was this change tested in universe?

No.

Any specific deployment considerations

  • After this PR is approved, CI is green, and it is merged, create a GitHub release tagged v1.7.1 at the merge commit. Generate notes since v1.7.0, including the CHANGELOG.md entry.
  • Publishing the GitHub release triggers .github/workflows/publish.yml, which publishes roboflow, then roboflow-slim, then the SDK docs. No manual PyPI upload is needed.
  • After publication, confirm both PyPI projects show 1.7.1 and the installed CLI exposes roboflow video annotate.
  • This PR prepares the release; it does not publish it.

Infrastructure impact

  • This change affects infrastructure needs (GPUs, Cloud Function sizing, storage etc.)
