Ryan Gabriel

Software Engineer · CPE student @ MSU-IIT

I design and build web applications end-to-end, from database schema and API design through to deployment and monitoring, with a preference for clean architecture over quick fixes. My primary stack is Next.js, Supabase, Spring Boot, and PostgreSQL, and I build for systems that hold up under real-world load, not ones that only work in a controlled demo.

How I Work

  • Fix things upstream. I contribute to tools I actually use: pull requests to Next.js, freeCodeCamp, Qwen Code, and Div-Acer-Manager-Max (my daily-driver laptop is an Acer Nitro V15), and I curate Awesome Linux Software.
  • Ship through tests and CI, not hope. Unit through end-to-end suites, wired into GitHub Actions before anything deploys. AgentFlow, for example, runs 503 automated tests at ~90% statement coverage.
  • Own my environment. Linux internals, networking, and audio tooling on my own hardware is where hobby overlaps with discipline. That habit is how projects like bp1pro-linux start.
  • Manage the plan, not just the code. Working through Google's Project Management Professional Certificate because scope, sequencing, and delivery slip more often than code does.

Research

Initial Development of Smart Greenhouse System with Automated Nebulization and AI-Based Plant Growth Monitoring IEEE HNICEM (International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment, and Management), Cebu · 2025 · co-authored

A closed-loop smart greenhouse with automated nebulization driven by pH/humidity sensing and YOLOv8-based growth monitoring at 87.97% accuracy. It produced higher and more uniform lettuce growth than the uncontrolled setup.

Building

AgentFlow An agent-driven CRM and workflow automation platform for solo real estate agents, with lead capture, automated outreach via Resend, pipeline tracking, and PayMongo-integrated payments in a single lightweight tool. Built with Next.js, Supabase, and Vercel.

BetterIligan volunteer A civic tech initiative digitizing local governance data, policies, and public services for the City of Iligan, Northern Mindanao. Contributing security hardening, SEO improvements, and infrastructure fixes, with 4 pull requests merged.

bp1pro-linux Unofficial Linux control (GUI/TUI/CLI) for Baseus Bass BP1 Pro earbuds: ANC, EQ, spatial audio, gestures, battery. Reverse-engineered the SPP protocol with frame-level evidence. Python stdlib only.

swm.nc2 Windows Server 2016 + Windows 10/11 lab automation covering DHCP, domain join, AD objects, GPO shell, and lightweight RDP, with an offline mock test suite.

Archive (earlier builds)

PROTECT (research) An ESP32 health-monitoring unit for elderly care: vitals trigger on-screen status, a buzzer, and SMS alerts to caregivers. The live fleet site deliberately exposes no vitals publicly. Embedded C++.

MakerSwap (archived) A peer-to-peer hardware exchange for MSU-IIT's student makerspace, enabling students to trade components and parts locally. Built with React, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, and Firebase.

Flowguard500 A Scilab-based predictive maintenance system for the FlowGuard 5000 centrifugal pump, with polynomial calibration, exponential degradation modelling, bisection failure prediction, and a real-time health dashboard.
