Title: Scanopy v0.17.2 — Expanded Podman Support, Credential Management Improvements, and Smarter Container Layouts

Scanopy v0.17.2 is out! This release brings expanded container virtualization support, streamlined credential management workflows, improved application topology layouts, and a bunch of container workflow fixes.

🔹 New Features

  • Podman Integration: Scanopy can now discover and visualize Podman containers alongside Docker—check out the new container service views!
  • Credential Management Rework: Daemon-host credentials can be managed directly from host and credential modals for a much smoother setup experience.
  • Integration Card Grouping: Both integration cards and daemon integration-selection cards are grouped by integration, making assignment and navigation easier in complex setups.
  • Spinning Radar Icon: The loading spinner is replaced with a spinning radar icon throughout the UI for clearer scan feedback.

🔹 Improvements

  • Smarter Application Layouts: Container topology packing now uses rectpacking, reducing overlap and making layouts much more readable.
  • Integration cards are ordered by applicable targets, so you can find relevant integrations faster.
  • Ungrouped containers in Application view auto-collapse, minimizing clutter on larger networks.
  • Exported Application topologies now have reliable cropping and file naming for cleaner diagrams.
  • Local sockets are rendered as ordinary credentials, keeping access consistent.
  • Stripe payment elements are allowed through the security policy for safer checkout.

🔹 Bug Fixes

  • Podman first-scan and credential workflows are fixed to ensure reliable discovery and clearer UX.
  • Dangling subnet references in host discovery are repaired for more accurate network maps.
  • Ungrouped collapse logic now covers orphaned grandchildren and all levels.
  • Infra subcontainer UI tags are correctly hidden when switching networks.
  • Podman proxy daemon-host discovery and stale socket targeting are resolved to prevent missed services.
  • Docker fallback handling for Podman sockets and socket UX in the credential wizard are improved.

Title: Map your homelab containers and network automatically — Scanopy lets you SEE your Podman, Docker, and physical topology

I built Scanopy, a self-hosted tool that auto-discovers your network, virtual containers, and service relations—including both Docker and Podman! Just shipped some crucial updates to make container mapping and credential setup way easier.

Here’s what Scanopy solves:

  • Container blind spots? Scanopy now finds and maps Podman containers just like Docker, so you can see every container workload on your network—no manual inventory.
  • Credential headaches? Setting up access for topo mapping can be annoying. Scanopy now lets you manage daemon-host credentials directly in the UI and groups integrations, so onboarding new services is much smoother.
  • Messy, tangled maps? Network topology visualizations are packed smarter, service cards are easier to find, and Ungrouped containers auto-collapse for less clutter. You get clean diagrams—even for bigger labs!

Scanopy runs as Docker containers (server + one or more daemons), supports over 200 service types, and is free for small networks. Visualizes LLDP/CDP neighbor links, SNMP, ARP, and can export clean diagrams.

Subject: Discover and visualize Podman containers—workflow upgrades!

Scanopy just got smarter for container workflows and network topology! This update makes discovering and managing container environments easier and improves application map clarity.

  • Podman Support: Scanopy now discovers and visualizes Podman containers alongside Docker, solving visibility gaps across mixed environments.
  • Smoother Credential Management: Easily manage daemon-host credentials and integrations from modals—secure setup and troubleshooting are now faster and more reliable.
  • Improved Application Maps: Topology views are automatically packed to avoid visual overlap so interpreting your container landscape is easier, especially at scale.
  • Cleaner UI Feedback: Spinning radar icon replaces outdated loading spinners—making scan progress clearer and more intuitive.
  • Bug Fixes for Container Discovery: Podman first-scans, Docker/Podman fallback handling, and orphan container logic now work seamlessly for dependable mapping and access.
