# Affiliate Applications Opens Again!

**Applications are back!**

We are excited to announce that the affiliation process has been updated, simplified, and is open for new affiliate project applications!

By becoming affiliated, your project gets highlighted for fitting into the broader Typelevel ecosystem and sharing our community values. Affiliate projects get listed on the [project index](/projects/README.md) and may use the "Typelevel affiliate" badge/shield (our quality mark 😉) on project pages and READMEs.

If you think your project meets our guidelines and it is a good fit or addition to Typelevel, perhaps because it complements it, uses some of its libraries, extends some functionality, or provides a new integration, we encourage you to apply. You can find more information on the [Typelevel affiliates page](/projects/affiliate-applications.md). See you there!

I get that it makes sense here, but I dislike putting a secondary action in the boxes on this page. The page currently has very bold calls to action with explanatory text and this breaks the pattern.

# Typelevel Affiliate Project Applications

This page outlines the guidelines and application process for projects that want to become Typelevel affiliate projects.

Affiliate projects are independently-owned projects that are part of the wider Typelevel ecosystem, without being hosted in the Typelevel GitHub organization.

## Who Should Apply

Open an application if your project:

- Uses, extends, integrates with, or complements [Typelevel projects](README.md) such as Cats, Cats Effect, FS2, etc.
- Is based on functional programming principles.
- Is distributed under an [OSI-approved open source license](https://opensource.org/licenses).
- Is publicly accessible on GitHub or another code forge (we recommend [Codeberg](https://codeberg.org/)).

- Is actively maintained and has a security policy (see [Typelevel security policy](/security.md) or [example policy](https://github.com/nodemailer/nodemailer/blob/master/SECURITY.md)).
- Has adopted the [Typelevel Code of Conduct](/code-of-conduct/README.md) in all spaces associated with the project.

## Application Process

1. **Submit the Application Form**: Start the [Affiliate Project Application Form](https://forms.gle/FhWBY8mvAgf64pD4A). Complete every required field in the form and send your responses.
2. **Acknowledgment & Initial Review**: A reviewer acknowledges the application and asks for any missing information.
3. **Evaluation**: Reviewers assess the application against the criteria and make a decision whether to accept it.
4. **Onboarding**: If accepted, reviewers coordinate onboarding and any follow-up work needed to add the project to Typelevel's public [project index](README.md).

The application process is managed by the Typelevel [Technical Steering Committee](/foundation/people.md). Reviewers aim to provide an answer within two weeks of receiving a complete application.
