Install the RLE extension (private preview)

Prerequisite: Azure Developer CLI (azd).

Add the source

Run this once to register the RLE extension source:

azd extension source add --name rle --type url --location "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Azure/azure-dev/rle-releases/cli/azd/extensions/registry.rle.json"

Install

azd extension install azure.ai.rle --source rle

Verify and explore commands

azd ai rle version
azd ai rle --help

Update

When a new version is available, update from the same source:

azd extension update azure.ai.rle --source rle
azd ai rle version

Installation verified using the rle source: azd ai rle version reports 0.8.27-preview, and azd ai rle --help lists the available commands.

Published azure.ai.rle 0.8.41-preview from latest fork main 310422762, using the documented external release process. This version is marked breakingChanges: true, requiring older clients to update before lifecycle commands continue.

Includes manifest harness forwarding for rollout/train, remote/byoh and taskset.kind compatibility, hosted Responses endpoint queries, resource-wide identical-file reuse, and incremental rollout capture progress.

All six platform archives have verified SHA-256 checksums, manifest versions, entrypoints, and URLs. Customer packages are byte-identical to development packages. Earlier registry entries and artifact URLs are unchanged. No implementation source changes are included.

Customer installation is available from the existing rle registry after this push, without merging this PR. Source release: sujit-kamireddy/azure-dev#36. Both PRs remain open and unmerged.
